I know, but also only media from HL Source, I had a look today to compare and am very impressed, it was a good idea, to spent all that Money on the Silver Package

I see HLS having better lighting and water efx.

...woo... >_>

The Texures look a bit better to, and the monster is a new model

After HL² I don't think I'll ever go back to HL1 even on source

YES! Finally someone who agrees with me! The ichty has a new model! Right?

How so? It looks exactly the same to me, although the view isn't that great. Could be new I guess.

Maybe the icthy appears in HL2 and they just plugged the HL2 model into HL:S.

Only thing that bothers me is the unbelievable reflections in the water. I can barely distinguish between the H2O and the walls.

Who said it was water.

The textures look like the same ones, but sharper to me. Perhaps they had the original files in a higher resolution when they first made them, and had them lower in the original HL?

The same would go for models, I would think that their source files(no pun intended) were better than what HL got, and combined with the new format, look better. They may not have the advanced facial animations, but appear to look a bit better.

lol , i was actually thinking of playing through HL Source before HL2 just to get the full story over again since its been so long since i finnished HL1

this is my plan

I havnt played Much of HL1 but I personally Didnt notice a story, im afriad

The lighting makes a difference, sure, but not a huge one. The only major graphical update was the water. There is plenty of water in HL,. but also plenty of areas that will look virtually no different then the original.

Ah well. It would be nice if someone threw HL2 models into HL1. Even nicer if someone spiffed up the textures. But thats a lot of work. I say, screw it, and wait. Update HL1 to be on par with HL3 specs ;)

A lot of people just dont know how to play HL. They're used to the normal shooter where you just run through and blast and kill, and expect to get informed on the details in cutscenes. HL1 doesnt work like that. You have to listen to what people say to understand whats going on.

The new PC Gamer US review -finally- gives us some details about HL:Source.

It will have:
- New lighting effects
- New water effects (as pictured)
- Same old level geometry, although some textures will be updated
- Models from the hi-res pack from Blue Shift for weapons and enemies (no HL2 models whatsoever)

Although it does also say that several mod teams have approached Valve about doing a complete re-make with new textures and models (and probably some altered geometry, while they're at it) and that valve are interested in the prospect, so it seems very likely, if not inevitable, that a full re-fit will be done at some point for HL.

With this info, I'm not going to bother getting the Silver pack as I had been considering.

Hopefully they make HL:S available on steam before HL2 is released, like they did with CS:S. It'd be a nice buildup to release.

And what if Half-Life: Source comes out 2 months after HL2?

Then they're gonna have a hell of a time shipping the Collectors Edition. It may come out sooner, but definitly not later.

Hey Mr. my feelings exactly. I thought that HL1 was going to get a face lift toguether with a lipo, but all I see is a nouse job... I already happend to own HL1, therafter, why should I buy another copy? Unless Valve make new models and adds support for better textures as well as geometry, they won't be seeing any of my money.:)

they want to make us feel like we're getting something for the extra $US 10 instead of just DoD:S

Have they added the Half Life 2/ CS Source blood effect?
