Compile hung up on vvis

Alright, so, I have done ENDLESS research to this, I have tried to optimize my map. I dropped my numportals from 33,000 to 7000. I tried to use areaportals but no matter how much I tried I got "Brush <number>: areaportal brush doesn't touch two areas" I checked all of the area portals and all were good. Made sure of no leaks but still. So I gave up on area portals, I haven't found a tutorial that explains hints well enough, but the ones I found said it would only drop the numportals by a few, I need them dropped by a few thousand.

What is happening is, I am using Nems batch compiler on the most basic settings, with normal vrad and vvis. When I compile it takes about 10 seconds to get to the PortalFlow command, until it just hangs there forever until I have to close it. The furthest it has gotten in portal flow is "0...1...2...3." that took about 6 hours, it hung at "0...1...2...3." for another few hours until I just closed vvis.

Could somone please help me optimize this, I have been trying for nearly a week now just to compile this map that isn't even all that big. If someone would be willing to take my vmf and optimize and send it back I would be forever grateful, or even if someone is willing to walk me through an optimization checklist. Anything, please.
Thanks in advance

Areaportals can be nifty. I mind you, any brush that is an entity ( like func_detail ) will not cut BSP and therefor the areaportal will not work because it's not sealed off correctly.

In other words; Imagine you have 2 rooms and the doorway has an areaportal in it. The wall next to the doorway is func_detail because it contains advanced brushwork. The areaportal wont work because the entity ( func_detail; wall next to doorway ) will not seal the room off. I hope you are following me. If not, bleh, it's hard to learn. Send me your map and ill take a look at it.

Yeah my first guess would be that you just forgot to make a cluster of brushes into func_details somewhere.

Hey sorry for not replying for a while, been away. And no, I haven't forgotton a cluster of brushes. I believe my error was what schoft said. I have borders around my giant doorways (to make it look cool, surf map) and they are func detail. And I wasn't stretching my areaportals through them. Thanks.
