I'd be interested in seeing how many people actually beat HL1. If you have, please reply with WHEN you beat it, and approx. how long it took you (not ACTUAL game time, but how long you spread the game out).

Sorry if this has been done before.

edit: I have been playing on and off for about 2 years now :-o...yea i know. I'd archive my game saves and play on and off once or twice a month. Now i'm putting it into high gear. Right now, I'm about 50% through "Surface Tension," meaning i have about 6.5/17 levels left. I have high hopes that I'll finish within the week.

first time i finished was in '01 when i got my new PC (up from a 233 pentium). In total, due to school, it got spread over a week or so.

ohh i've beat it in year 99. but i've beat it about 5 times.

I still have not completed it... I WAS playing it... got pretty far in and all... then Steam went out of beta... I didn't save my saves... yeah... don't feel like doing it again with HL2 so close...

Edit: I've had the game since the end of '99... bought it for TFC! :bounce:

I beat it a long time ago, probably 3 years back. Started over again today as I haven't played in ages but I got bored :(.

Really if you haven't beaten it yet, you should, considering how Half-Life is a trilogy and you probably really need to know about Half-Life 1's plot twists to understand some stuff in Half-Life 2.

I beat it maybe 2-3 years ago, took me maybe 1-2 weeks. I'm a quicksave whore.

beat it last year...took me about 1-2 weeks at around 2 hours a day....

Beated it two times. Long time ago on normal setting and again recently on Easy just to refresh my mind on stuff for hl2.

About 4 and a half years ago on my trusty 166 with a voodoo 1.

Oh and it took me 3 to 4 days to finish it.

I finished it years ago. Its got 0 replay value so I never bothered playing it again.

I finished it in 2000
Then i Made a Post in the ValveERC website about it. and it got to 1000 posts before autolycus locked it. those were great times...
Time to start over again. !!!

I beat it like 4 or 5 times. The most recent time was when I beat it yesterday (Sept. 19th) under hard. The ending still creeps me out.

A few times since its release....in fact i am playing it at the moment until HL2 is released!!!

Beat it once, never played through again. 'Twas a great game though.

I have completed HL1 a long time ago, probably 3 or more years ago.
I then completed blue shift maybe a week after it's release.
I have only just completed OpForces (Last night to be exact).

Beat HL for the first time 2 years ago.
Beat it again around 3pm today (with cheats)
I like god mode

I beat it after about 3 weeks after I got it for Christmas in '98, and since then I've beaten it around 10-15 times on all of the difficulties and I even beat the PS2 version. (Which has some minor differences with the PC version). Op4 I wrecked after like two days and I have beaten it around 5-10 times (I'm playing through it again) and Blue Shift I beat the same day I got it, and I've beaten that around five times..

I recently got hte PS2 version and am working through the "Decay" episode.. I'm currently stuck on it. Having to use two seperate characters at the same time is a pain in the ass.... Especially when the computer wastes all your MP5 genades on friggen Alien Slaves.. Use the pistol dammit!

I don't remember when I first beat Half-Life. But ... I remember when I got to the boss in OpForce, and every time it opened it's freakn' mouth, the game crashed to windows. So I have never beaten OpForce. Then I beat Blue Shift.

All three were awsome (except BS was a bit short).

Heh, I had just beaten Half-life like a minute ago. Saw the climax and the anti climax.

Good god, I love Mark Laidlaw's wrighting style..

I beat it a few times.. Gonna go beat it now.. drool.... I love beating it.

ive beaten it about 2 times, all in around when halflife came out. i really havent played it recently.

took me 3 days

I didn't finish it until after Half-Life 2 was announced. I mean, I had finished it with Cheats but not properly.

It was Xen, I was quite rubbish at all aspects of Xen but I got round it eventually.

I beat it. Waaayyy over 10 times...the administrator talks sooo cool! :dozey:

for ppl thinking cl is some type of cheat its not its counter-life its a hl addon where u can use the cs gun u buy them u get money where u would of picked up gun before :) .... its class.. dont remember link.. jsut look for it on yahoo.

everyone should play it through at least once... without cheats or modding. maybe even go as extreme as installing from the original disk and playing it out of the box.

first found out about the game in 01 (yea, out of the FPS loop)
beat it in about two weeks...

last time I beat it was about 1 week ago, spread over a week, total game time of about 10 hours. (once you know where everything is...hehehe)

I recieved a CD entitled "Half-Life OEM" before the game was out. In fact, before I'd even heard of the game. So I popped it into my CD drive, and played through what was known as "Half-Life: Day One". Hours later, having hardly blinked since I started playing, I realised I'd just played the first part of the greatest game ever made. The moment it was available retail, I bought it and played through it over two days, with minimal sleep. Since then, I've played through it a minimum of once a year (some years several times), on medium and hard difficulty levels. I've also played through Opposing Force and Blue Shift many, many times.

Beat it thrice on PC, and twice on PS2.
Also beat all four official expansions two or three times.

It's wierd how it never gets boring...
