Just got the October issue of CGW.

I'm currently reading this and will post all new info I find (their cover story is everything about VALVe.... Aftermath, lost coast, DoD:S, etc etc... even Sin Episodes )

I'll keep posting though as I read more!

But it says that the Lost Coast should be available by the time you read it (which would probably mean like less than 2 weeks until we get it!), and they also said the same about Day of Defeat: Source with Aftermath to follow soon thereafter!

Okay I'll keep reading...

*Edit* Lost Coast features a director mode. Basically there will be little cues around that you can walk up to, click, and then one of the VALVe guys will talk about development of the level and such, and give comments. But however, it will give a few spoilers as to what's coming up in the level, so it's best to play with director's mode off the first time through, unless you would rather have a few things ruined a head of time.

*Edit2* Lost Coast isn't just a tech demo... It shows you how headcrabs took over Raven Holm!!!!

Oh, and in Aftermath there is new AI for working with allies and collaborative action.

*Edit3* When asked if Hydra's will return, Marc Laidlaw smiles and says

Mossman came from Half-Life -- she was a character we couldn't pull off until Half-Life 2. So I'd say that none of our ideas, if we're attached to them, ever necessarily go away.

*Edit4* They are planning on a new episode for Half-Life 2 every 3 months, and then a seasonal box set for retail.

Oh, and they are also rearchitecturing Steam, and we are actually running two versions of it now. Steam 2 and Steam 3, alongside each other... Though we don't even know it.

Gabe feels the need to fight World of Warcraft, with the gamers helping to make the experience better. He thinks that Microsoft's new OS Vista won't solve problems, and X360 is a pain because they told them "You can't rely on the hard drive" (it's an optional feature).

Awesome, thanx for the info:D New episode of HL every 3 months? Not too bad of a deal. Actually I think this may be Valve's way of putting the things into the game they had to take out for various reasons (hydra, icebreaker, etc.) Next few months looking good for gaming indeed:smoking:

Yup :)

They make a really good analogy to the film industry. Basically as of right now pretty much every game company is doing the equivalent of a blockbuster movie. However, as we know today, that isn't all there is on TV! VALVe is saying that they are now getting into the equivalent of TV Shows in gaming, which is awesome! :)

They said that they also get to try new technology much faster and test it out publically before waiting to get it into the next full-blown project (they did say Half-Life 3)... For example they said it was better to release HDR now, so they could fix any problems, then wait months/years from now to release it into their next big project (whereas by then, almost every game should have HDR)

Thats awesome :D

It's also craaaaayzeh...

I'm too tired to get all excited right now. But still very cool news :E

I believe, good sir, I have just soiled my pants.

Yes, yes I have.

Oh dear...

good news bro- every 3 months? judging by the time its taken since they announced aftermath that doesn't seem likely, but oh well, we'll see i guess.

If possible can we have some scans? Pleeeeez.
Take it to a PM, mate. Screens will be removed by moderators as soon as we see them.

After reading what you've told us, Iced_Eagle, I'm so proud of Valve Software. They're like a champion for quality and I love their commitment to the massive community and to their products being the finest games they could possibly make.

Great info, thanks for info Iced_Eagle, its appreciated. The Steam idea intrigues me.:E

Sorry, I don't even have a scanner or digital camera :(

Here's the cover though.

Anyways, yes I'm a subscriber so I get it early.

Oh, and I was just browsing the CGW site, and came across this article.
http://cgw.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3143206

Since when did VALVe announce HL1:DM was getting the Source treatment? Maybe I have a bad memory, but that's news to me.

VALVe MMO would be pretty cool, I'm sure that they have enough story to make one. With Steam it could be made possible, but I'm not sure if that is their area of expertise...

*edit2* WOOT!!! I just found a scanner! :)

To make this article 56k scanner, I won't show the image in the thread, you need to click on it (I'm doing hi-res scans, the source image is around 11 megs, but I then shrink the image to half size)

http://www.icedeagle.net/images/cover shrunk.jpg

I can't post scans in public *nudge* :imu:

Valve announced in one of their weekly updates that HLDM was gonna go Source at some point, they said it a few months ago... :p

To celebrate im going to play

Half life Source, Opposing Force and Blue Shift again, then run about for a while, then look for scans then repeat.

Well since Ennui won't let Iced_Eagle post the scans *another nudge* come to hl2world. I'm gonna post the scans there when released.

It's my job. Sorry for being a moderator on a site that doesn't allow illegal content.

Yeah heaven forbid you do your job. lol joking. If you been on this site for over a year or even 6 months, you'd know by now scans from magazines aren't allowed.

I will kill one pizza every 5 minutes until scans of this are allowed, im warning you

Huh? Elaboration, please.

It said like in the WoW forums, people were explaining parts of the story, drawing up art works, and essentially other gamers are helping contribute to the story, by pulling people into the game and making it feel "real" to others.... Immersion value is huge.

*edit2* So, a little birdy told me to tell you guys to PM me for "more info"...

Oh, I misunderstood you then. When you said "fight World of Warcraft" I thought it meant something like "Gabe: BLIZZARD IS THE SPAWN OF SATAN, **** 'EM". :)

Sweet stuff. Thanks Iced_Eagle, you know what I'm talking about *wink* *wink*

Only 16 PM's?

Jeez you guys don't know how to stress test the forums! :p lol

New episodes of Hl2? Is this free.. or do we have to pay for it like we have to pay for SIN

So... where is it?
.... They mean when it goes to stores which is in like 2 weeks.
So I expect lost coast in like 2 weeks.

VALVe seem to have said "F the hat!" and pulled a rabbit out of thin air on this one!

best news I have heard in a very long time!

Are you guys gona get one of them new console things that are coming out? Cause they look alright.

You mean a new console? lol?! I might.

Some interesting info in that article. So 2 weeks to the lost coast. I say chaps, bugger!
