Computer not recognizing microSD/transflash

i just got a 1 gig microSD/transflash for my phone, but when i use the adapter and plug it into the SD slot on my computer the computer doesn't even recognize thats it's there. If i go to my computer and click on the apporpriate drive it just says "please insert a disk into the drive", even though i have the microSD in the SD slot. It doesn't seem to be a fualty SD either, seeing as how it works fine on my phone, i was able to format it and eveyrthing on my phone, but still doesnt work on the PC. Any ideas?

Try formatting it in your phone first. Don't ask me how, it's different for each model. Usually under Settings somewhere.
