Conan's 1.5m dollar comedy bit!

I heard the first part of this show on TV. He does all this shit right after talking about how you should go to this one website to donate for relief in Haiti.

:|

Hey go to this site and help people in need while I blow 1.5 million dollars on absolutely nothing.

He's not paying for it, why is it such a problem? NBC sure has hell wouldn't donate it to Haiti, I'm sure.

If he can do whatever he wants with the money, I'm sure he could find a way to get it there.

It's still blatantly wasting money anyway, the blaring hypocrisy is impossible to ignore and is completely stupid no matter what. When he talks about donating and then 5 minutes later is doing shit like this, it's ridiculous to the point where I thought he must be joking about it.

What does it matter that it's a comedy show? Does that warrant Conan and all the people behind his show to be gigantic hypocrites and basically terrible human beings?

ITT: Pitz is a Conan fanboy.

ITT: Pitz has never watched anything but a couple of Conan clips, and finds Jay Leno more funny, so Veggies ITT comment doesn't hold water

ITT: VEGIES IS COPYING ME and is a judging jerk. calling them terrible people is quite a large accusation.

To be fair, he actually did this right after talking about all the hamsters that were born during the duration of his show.

If he could do whatever he wants with it he would put it in his bank account. Clearly he has a production budget for show expenses and he decided to blow a lot of it at once. Haiti relief is probably excluded from NBC's production budget.

Hey, shut up Dan. I think Vegeta knows a bit more about Conan's contractual details and the Tonight Show budget than you do!

That's my point. I was mocking you.

You're right.

Obviously not "anything" but he could have gotten creative. 'For this comedy bit we flew to Haiti and started handing out money to the charity organizations! Haha!'

It would have been a hell of a lot funnier than what he did in that clip.

But Conan has to fly, and he's afraid of it.

At least in my dreams he is.

They didn't actually purchase that car. A museum loaned the car to the show for this bit. Also, you can't view that clip on NBC.com anymore due to the royalty thing with the song. Effectively, they spent very little money on that bit.

Throwing money at Haiti isn't going to solve much right now. There's tons of aid going into the country right now, but it's congested as **** so it can't get in.

Veg is just being a poop.

What the hell do you know all you do is bark at the TV screen whenever you see a commercial for dog food.

I wonder how much Vegeta has donated to Haiti.

People like Conan have to say to donate to these sort of things because it's an obligation as a TV figurehead, if he doesn't, TV Execs would freak out about people complaining.

If you mention donations and the like, you can do whatever the **** you want afterwards, you had filled your obligation.

It's not his money so it's irrelevant how he spent it, and the intent was to waste it.

It's couldn't be one bit the responsibility of the network, of course, because they had no say in the beginning where their money would be made readily available.

implying Conan gives a shit what the execs at NBC would freak out about
Because it's impossible a TV 'figurehead' could possibly really care about what's going on in the world, right? He's only talking about donating to the relief fund because of the executives.

Man I don't even ****ing watch the show nor that video.

I'll just take my two cents and promptly scram.

They didn't actually buy a Veyron and get the rights to the original master recording of Satisfaction (although NBC might have to pay for that song being played on the air unless they already have an agreement with the record company). It's a comedy bit. He's being kicked off his own show and the joke is that while he's there, he's going to blow a bunch of NBC's money.

The night after this, he "bought" a Kentucky Derby winning race horse, had a mink snuggie custom fitted for it, and had it watching restricted NFL footage for what he said was $4.8 million.

It's just a joke.

Couldn't he have bought the car with NBC money then auction/raffled it off on the show (possibly on a subsequent night) to raise money for Haiti?

Yes, but because Vegeta doesn't feel like contributing at all to the Haiti fund he feels guilty and must try to put everyone else down.

Putting everyone else down? I wasn't saying anything about anyone else besides Conan. I couldn't give a shit if any of you donate to Haiti. I don't and don't plan to. That isn't the point. I was only pointing out something that struck me as incredibly hypocritical. Now that I see he really didn't waste millions of dollars, it's all cool now bro.

lrn2watchthewholevideo

Made me laugh.

If I had seen any other of the bits besides the first one I would have realized on my own that it wasn't real :p
