Manually Configuring Hammer for HL2

1) Copy GameInfo.txt into Half-Life 2/HL2 directory
"C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\<user>\sourcesdk\cstrike_sample_content\"

2) Open GameInfo.txt and Edit the following:

Code:
[I]SteamAaap id [/I] 240 into 220
Both codes are in the comment

Then use the search fuction to look for CSS information and remove it

You should know have:

Code:
Game [Steam]./hl2 
Game executible [Steam]./bin

Those should be in there already...

Now, change the 'cstrike' path to 'hl2'

Save, and close

3) In Hammer, make a new profile in the 'Game Config' tab
Set Game Path to /SteamApps/<user>/half-life 2/hl2/
Set Game Executible Path to /SteamApps/<user>/half-life 2/

And, for now set the FDG to the 'base.fgd'
Your going to have to use this one for now because the OFFICIAL HL2 FGD has not been released yet.

4) 'Build Programs' Tab is the same except for the Game Executible and the "place compiled maps here..."
Set Game Executible to /SteamApps/<user>/half-life 2/hl2.exe
Set "place compiled maps here..." to /SteamApps/<user>/half-life 2/hl2/maps



USE THIS FOR RIGHT NOW UNTIL OFFICIAL RELEASE OF THE SDK IS MADE PUBLIC.

NOTE: So far materials are the only thing stored in there.

i hope it works,

the only problem is that we don't have a goof fgd file
 
just gotta wait for the offical stuff to get use of the textures and stuff :(
