Copy and pasted from another forum I posted in, I'm a bit short on time:
My 360 is wired to my PC, which is then connected wirelessly with my router. My wireless and wired connections are bridged. I've tested my adapter through the XP command line, and it is set to promiscuous mode, so no problems there.
Now right now, the Xbox Live diagnostic tells me that the LAN connection is wired and detected, but an IP address cannot be obtained. I don't run into this problem when I connect my 360 directly to my router, but I want to be able to play my games in HD through the VGA adapter, so I'm not looking for a "go get a wired connection" kind of solution.
My current router is a WRT54GL with the DD-WRT firmware v23 installed. I've set the router DHCP to give my Xbox 360 its own local IP address (192.168.1.3), and I've put in the 360's MAC address into the proper DHCP field.
Anyone able to help me?
[edit] And yes, this IS possible to do, I've read up on people being able to connect to XBL this way, I'm just having major problems with it so far.
