Copy and pasted from another forum I posted in, I'm a bit short on time:

My 360 is wired to my PC, which is then connected wirelessly with my router. My wireless and wired connections are bridged. I've tested my adapter through the XP command line, and it is set to promiscuous mode, so no problems there.

Now right now, the Xbox Live diagnostic tells me that the LAN connection is wired and detected, but an IP address cannot be obtained. I don't run into this problem when I connect my 360 directly to my router, but I want to be able to play my games in HD through the VGA adapter, so I'm not looking for a "go get a wired connection" kind of solution.

My current router is a WRT54GL with the DD-WRT firmware v23 installed. I've set the router DHCP to give my Xbox 360 its own local IP address (192.168.1.3), and I've put in the 360's MAC address into the proper DHCP field.

Anyone able to help me?

[edit] And yes, this IS possible to do, I've read up on people being able to connect to XBL this way, I'm just having major problems with it so far.

My 360 is also wired to my computer which is wirelessly connected to my router. All I did was set internet connection sharing to on and all worked fine. Just right clicked the wireless connection, went to properties, and on the sharing tab has the check box for ICS. I don't have my connections bridged, so maybe thats whats bugging yours up?

Might be. I'll give it a shot.

The only thing is, apparently sharing your internet connection gives you a NAT status of "Good" instead of "Open", which leads to problems joining and communicating with other players. But it's better than nothing, I suppose :P

Quick update, that Sonic already knows about.

As it turns out, through repairing my console, Best Buy made it WORSE.

I send it in due to crashing. 3 weeks later I get it back. Nothing got better. But here's what got worse:

I now have three rubber feet on the bottom instead of the usual four.
When I turn it on, the DVD drive doesn't open.
After six tries, the drive opens, and it rattles.
When a disk gets read, instead of the usual quiet "zip" of the motors moving the laser, I get a "chkkkkkkkk-rrrrrr dzzzzzz chk chk chk chk bzwwwwww~"
Instead of crashing in 5 minutes, games now crash in under 20 SECONDS.

GG, Best Buy, GG.

I am so ****ing pissed off right now. This is unbelievable.
