86 games for xbox360 planned for 2006

45 games planned for PS3 in 2006

the article doesnt list Revolution games because most havent been announced

kinda underwhelming for xbox360, only 86 this year in comparison to ps3's 45 which comes out sometime in q3, q4 ..giving ps3 a bigger lauch than xbox360 in terms of number of games ..the best of the xbox360 list is also planned for pc, and nothing that is exculsive is a must have imho

I see HL2 is coming to PS3. Gonna look nice. :)

Oh man! Scarface: The World Is Yours for the Xbox 360? Thought that was planned for Xbox. Still good stuff.

Yeah, I saw this over the weekend. I tend to wonder how many of these are set in stone. I don't think that many are unfortunately. Still, so many wicked titles to look forward to! I just hope the whole rushing titles out just to get them on the market thing stops and people release quality games instead of hurried messy rental candidates.

it was moved to the 360 a few months back and the xbox version was cancelled ...if I recall correctly

Out of every game mentioned, only a handful will probably be very good and worth the cash. Which console having the most games doesn't really interest me, which has the best ones, does (*hugs GC*)

Many titles appearing for the 360 and pc is also a good thing. I'm fed up of pumping 1000's of pounds in pc gaming for little return, and have recently stopped upgrading. If many of the better pc games end up on the 360 then i'll still be able to play them (who'd have thought a X800 XTPE would age as fast as it has? :/). Oblivion being the first and most obvious example (and will probably run and look better than the pc version - especially if you have a HDTV)

Lastly, the first batch of PS3 games are going to be launch titles. Bar a few, we all know what this means. The 360 games appearing at the same time should be considerably more polished and impressive.

I learned that the hard way when I purchased the original xbox ..should have bought a ps2 instead or at least looked at a GC a little harder

ya but that's sort of your own fault, I mean the x800xtpe should be good enough (playable) for at least another year or more ..it's just that we've all been spoiled by nice cards that we feel the need to buy a card every year just to stay on top when we really dont (developers must know that a small percentage of their buying audience has uber-pcs ..I'm willing to bet a large number of pc gamers have integrated graphics)

I played far cry on a geforce 2mx ..didnt have the eye candy but it was stlll playable. It all boils down to what we feel is an acceptable level of performance ..but truth be told do you really noticed the bump-mapped wood texture of a fallen tree branch when you're speeding by in a jeep trying to avoid the attack chopper on your tail?

Much depends on the type of games you enjoy - I got massive amount of gaming out of the Xbox.

I was underwhelmed with the performance the day it arrived, which was at launch. Recent titles like FEAR, imo, are already too much for it.

For graphics cards that cost £300+ (which doesn't include the obscene amount of cash that goes on cpu/mobo/memory etc) we shouldn't have to play at low resolutions and sacrifice on details for a good while - yet even the very best pcs money can buy are struggling with the latest releases.

ya unfortunately I bought the xbox for fps ..when I had my pc for that ..I should have bought a ps2 to get something more than fps out of console gaming

really? that cant be right ...unless you mean with everything on, cuz my old 9800pro played it on medium to high settings and it looked fantastic ..when I installed my 7800gt I really didnt see that drastic of a change

I have a 7800gt and it plays everything on high ...although I have noticed that prices seem to be higher in the UK as compared to canada ..I bought my 7800 for $389 canadian which is 194.500 GBP

I understand your frustration but personally I'm not willing to trade my pc for a console ...Enemy territory is pc exclusive :)

I'm a frame rate whore, and can't stand anything under 40fps on a monitor - especially during fights, when a decent rate is actually needed. FEAR dragged the rate down into the low 30's at points. Sure, I could turn down the eye candy - but seeing as much of the attraction in pc gaming is the visuals, turning them down to improve the performance seems rather silly to me. Why put up with the worst of both worlds when there's umpteen console games that look and play superbly begging for attention?

Sure, but for how long? I hope it lasts you ages, but very much doubt it'll be playing games in the near future at decent res/settings and a high frame rate.

That's one of the few games that's tempting meto stick with pc gaming - but I can't justify the cost for one game.

oh there's plenty of games on the horizon that are pc exclusive (well most are MMO's but that's more my taste than anything else)

ya 40fps is a high standard to match ...would you believe I started playing rtcw on an ati rage 128 on my mac ..the res was at the lowest possible setting but I enjoyed it despite it's crappy settings ..once I moved to a geforce2mx and ultimately to a 9800 pro it was like a different game BUT I easily enjoyed it as much on a rage 128 than I did on a 9800pro ..the candy was nicer but the gameplay was exactly the same

it's also what you're comfortable playing ..I get headaches and my eyes tear a heck of a lot if I play a few hours on my xbox ...not so with a pc ..also the majority of the games I've played on xbox were a bit of a letdown ..I kept looking for more depth when their obviously wasnt any ..but again that's personal taste as many pc games are the same

Indeed..
But damnit, I wish Capcom would announce a Steel Battalion sequel for the X-Box 360..
But the Capcom rep' I talked to about it said there'd be a very small chance, even if they found a way to use the SB1 controller on the 360, even smaller if they didn't..
That was -THE- best game on the XB for me..
I drool just thinking about it, still have my original copy around here.:)

Hmm, why isn't "Lair" on the Playstation 3 list?

Nice list for both consoles though.

Looks good to me.

Hopefully I'll be picking up Oblivion and the new Ghost Recon sometime soon.

IGNORE THE PS3 LIST

That list is all speculation.

Reasonable expectations, and somewhat confirmed-ish organization of the PS3 list:

Launch (Either announced for or talked about as one, I'm not putting ANY of my own speculation here):
Lair
MotorStorm
Warhawk
Tekken PS3(Tekken TAG-ish)
Fatal Inertia

2006:
Heavenly Sword
I-8
Sonic the Hedgehog
Armored Core 4
Unreal Tournament 2007
Medal of Honor: Airborne
Mobile Suit Gundam
Formula One
Fifth Phantom Saga
Rockstar Old West PS3 Project
WarDevil
Alan Wake
Ni-Oh
The Darkness
Brothers in Arms 3

2007:

MGS4 (Possibly late 2006)
The Getaway
Dark Sector
Killzone PS3
Project Assassins
Turok Next [working title]
Devil May Cry 4
Vision GT
Id's next project

I've left out the ones I have no thoughts on.
And if they are going to put games that haven't been announced why don't they mention the ones by Sony's best devs; Naughty Dog, Sucker Punch, Zipper, Team ICO, etc.

Because its a crappy guess-list at best and, like you said, it shouldn't be taken too seriously. We'll know much more after DevStation 2006. I can't wait to hear (hopefully) what news comes out of there (if anyone can talk without being canned)!

Yeah, but they basically just took a list of announced PS3 games and said 2006 LOL.

Oh, and devstation is not open to the press, devs only.

Looks promising, but the only games im definately going to buy over the next year are, halflife2 aftermath, Oblivion, UT2007, Crysis, Spore and maybe the next operation flahspoint. Hopefully thats a decently refined selection, lucky all the stuff I enjoy happens to be PC based :D.

Indeed. People who believe it will receive a -3 intelligence score for today.

Yeah, um, no kidding, but you mean to tell me that no information is going to get out to the media? I don't believe that for a second either :).

Wow what a craptacular year, thank god for Zelda or my interest in consoles will dwell lower (damn you new pc!). Also..***mours of Super Smash Brothers (online possibly) as a launch title for the Revolution would indeed revive my interest :D (If it's true)

Zelda will probably be the only console game i buy this year

<in my best Arnold Schwarzenegger voice> It's not a rumor!

Nintendo said they want it to be a launch title... and that it will be online.

Here's a compilation of some games and developers that have been announced, or hinted at, for the Revolution as of last week.

Also, in a recent interview... Reggie Fils-Aime stated that they have several secrets left to reveal before the launch of the Revolution:
Come [this May], we'll disclose a lot more. After [that], we'll disclose even more, and right about the time of the launch, we'll disclose even more. There are certainly elements to everything we're doing about Revolution I'm talking beyond the controller, the virtual console, all the different element we'll be sharing all the way up to launch. And I believe as consumers understand the full range of benefits and the full functionality, the more and more they're going to get excited.

God damn, I want about half of the games on that 360 list. They're not just fillers with a couple of decent games, there's a huge amount of quality populating that list.
