Console on the demo

Hey I just downloaded the Half-Life 2 demo, how can i get the console up?

Go to Options > Keyboard > Advanced... > "Enable developers console"

and then press `

Not ~ like I keep getting told, but when I do press it, nothing happens. So meh.

It's the same key, it's just that ` is close to ' (apostrophe) and ~ is a really distinctive key on the keyboard, pretty much everyone knows where it is. So push ~ while NOT holding shift like those "other" people (Xendance).

How the key is marked depends on whether you have a UK or US keyboard (or another language). The key you need is the one on the top left of the main block to the left of 1 and below Esc. On my UK keyboard it has the symbols ` and ?, however I believe US keyboards have it marked as ~.

EDIT: OK, its not a ?, but this editor won't recognise it. The symbol looks like a L rotated 90 degrees clockwise then mirrored horizontally.

Wow, I didn't even know different countries (Where the majority spoke the English language) had a different keyboards, I thought if you spoke English you had the same keyboard pretty much, except the $ sign was replaced by whatever countries currency you live it...

I just searched on Google Images for a USA keyboard, and now I not confused.

The button next to right ctrl has the same function as a right mouse button. For people who do not have a mouse.
