Constructive criticism of Doom 3.

I found a level list, baby. There are 27 levels (maps), total. Monorail.map is #14, so we're about exactly 1/2 way through, in terms of level #'s. Some levels could be smaller than others later on though, so we may be a little bit further past 1/2 way.

Delta labs 1, 2a, 2b, 3 and 4 await before reaching Hell.map. So still a ways off :/

The enemy list is interesting - the only ones left to see are Archvile and Hell Knight, assuming that a 'Wraith' is a lost soul from Doom. Also got 3 bosses left to go (the mancubus' aren't counted, apparently).

Is the mancubus that man-spider thing?
big fat buggers. They look brilliant and the introduction scene with them is great.

Lanthanide, the wraith's are like those maggots i think.

Hellknights look great btw

Doom 3 is a lot better than I expected

The former marine AI is very good and will take cover and try to put covering fire on you

The monsters can be a bit dumb sometimes because they will blindly charge but they're not so stupid that they are running into walls

A shame that there isnt a baron of hell.. they could have made the hell hellknights (giggles) with the pentagram cuts on their body's a baron of hell, the 2 demons looks the same exept for their color in the original doom anyway.

I have played some of the later levels (the hell stuff, and some of the mine stuff) @ a friends house who downloaded it, it will keep me anthousiastic for a while untill I can buy it myself legally, and play it from start to finish.

I have now seen almost all the monsters, one thing I think sucks was the lack of a spider mastermind. That was a true classic that they should have revived.

and for the critic dudes:

DOOM³ is a remake of the original doom, they never intended to step aside from its original concept.
Doom classic didn't had secondary fire, so neither has DOOM³.
Doom classic doesnt have sneaking imps, neither does DOOM³ (exept for 2 or 3 times).
Doom classic has spawning demons, so does DOOM³ (they want you to know that there is some demonic general in hell that wants you dead so he spawns his troops to you)

id never wanted DOOM³ to be a totally diffrent game. they just realised their original vision.

My only problem with Doom3 right now are the damn cutscenes!

Not a single one, have I agreed with. Takes me out of the mood everytime.

I guess that's what makes the HL series truly unique.

Oh well, the game still rocks nonetheless

NeonSpyder - Doom 3 oozes polish. I personally found the AI to be pretty decent. At least the AI doesn't appear to be stupid. I personally enjoyed the AI from the sentry bot that followed you around early in the game. It has to be the best ally AI in a game I have ever seen.

~~~
I personally don't like the the weapon switching system. The mouse wheel normally works well in most games but not Doom 3. I think I am going to remap the weapon keys or something.
And the Edge 2 does not look the Edge DM level from Q2. Rather disappointing in my opinion.
there are so many thing they could have done better, and they had 4 years, so why didnt they do it? The only logical reason was.. they didn't wanted to go to far from the original doom. They never really did a story like this, so that was a first for them and they are a bit unsecure about that part. I am sure their next game will ooze class, good gameplay, good graphics, great sounds great story.
Oh, and the soulcube looks wicked imo, so does the plasmarifle
sounds like DoomIII was rushed.
poor AI, lack of scripted scenes, not a great a game as it should be... generally "unpolished"
kinda disheartening, but it won't stop me from buying the game.
* NeonSpyder shrugs and continues looking at screenshots
"UNPOLISHED!?!?!?" Are you kidding me? This is probably one of the most polished games I've ever seen. Agree or disagree with some of the design decisions.....you cannot say this game is unpolished.
