how long have you had your monitor? If its old the icons could of inprinted in it and it shows if its really bright, ive had that happen with an old monitor. But then again, you would prob notice it when browsing on your pc if you have any white, like folders or something.

That's the only explaination I could come up with.
Try to see if you can get a screenshot of it. If it doesn't show up in the screenshot, that would probably be it.

Either that or he was just staring at his desktop for a while before starting up CS:S and immediately throwing a flashbang. heh.
