Right i have come up with an idea for a single player mod, seeing as there is a lack of them.
I am just presenting the idea here, for someone to pick up with a team if they wish........i'm not going to start it because i am already half way through working on another mod.
The mod is called Half Life 2: Paradox
The mod is set (mainly) around the time of half life 2 and you play as dr kilener *spoiler from now on*
remember when alyx and gordon were stuck in the teleport for a week? and dr kliener said "this requires much more research" .......well he did, dr kleiner believes that alyx and gordon died in the combine citadel explosion but within a few days of modification and research his teleport has been converted into something amazing, the best thing to ever come out of the black mesa team...............a time machine.
Dr kliener decides he will use the time machine to rescue alyx and gordon before the explosion, at first he tests it over small time spans with objects .....making a bean can travel a few minutes through space-time e.t.c
The game starts in the makeshift laboratory, that is your base of operations, because this is just an idea i dont have much info but the sort of things i was imagining is that you (dr kliener) set the frequency wrong and end up going back to ww1 or back to the original black mesa.
The goal of the game is to rescue alyx and gordon without causing a paradox, you must leave history as it is and make sure everything is in its place.........all sorts of plot twists e.t.c (again its just a rough idea........a dev team would make it amazing)
Weapons could be standard ones from hl2 with some extra scientific prototype weapons, things like remote teleport e.t.c
also you could have weapons from the time periods he accidently goes to, ww1 rifles........even far into the future weapons :O
The game type would need some serious coding to get the time travel element to work (where if something is changed it will change in the "future") ......this wouldn't be too hard, just some special level interchange coding but you could have amazing things.
also you could incorporate the g-man in the story (seeing as you have just invented time travel, im sure the g-man would be there)
I think its a great idea, things like having to dress up as a combine soldier, or having to place certain things for gordon.......this of course would require an intelligent story writer.....need it to be a very clever mod, in line with the fact you play as dr kliener......basically fighting would be toned down (you dont have an HEV suit) but more focusing on the time travel based puzzles and paradox avoidance.
If you have a pro dev team with no idea of a mod, feel free to use this idea........i would certainly like to play it.
