Cool MP ideas

One idea is to have a cops and bankrobbers mode. It could work somewhat like this: As bankrobbers you should take your cars and rob a bank-transport and get away before the police get to the scene and then get back to your hiding place and hold off the cops long enough to escape in your plane... Off to Bahamas!

Anyone else got some good ideas in store?
 
I have an idea for a single player story which I'm quite proud of.

My other idea was a WWI mod. You would have to capture, then defend a trench in the middle. And you just repeat, for ever and ever without any real advancement. It would be really pointless and all you would do would die. So quite realistic then.

Share! In a PT if you think someone will steal it... if someone takes your idea you know it was me who spread it :)

I have an idea or three...but I'm not telling you! You'd steal it! :p

I had a couple of ideas for SP mods, one that actually got fleshed out pretty well, but it was waaay too much for a mod. And it ripped off Deus Ex too much. :)
 
I would like to make a sp mod for HL²... maybe not a super lenghty one.. but with some cool ideas and hopefully a good story... I'm thinking in the lines of starting out with someone trying to kill you and you're just a regular guy so you don't know why and then things unfold from there.. more of a mystery action adventure... not so much with aliens and stuff. Maybe set in a cyberpunkish future...
 
i have a idea, you play a guy called gabe n00b and your the leader of a resistance against a band of evil doers called VUG
 
I want a zombie mode (regular zombie, not of the head crab variety). A huge number of players on each map, some already infected. Zombies are slightly slower but harder to kill (head shots only) and they can't use complex weapons (blunt objects only). A Biting finishing move turns the victim into a zombie. Last man standing wins.

Hmm... this sounds too much fun to be original... though I think I made it up ;)

Hey, thats my idea. :frown: I thought of designing a sp story.


As for multi,.

With all the vehicular action, large maps, and high player counts allowed by Source, it would be pretty damned sweet to have a GTA style game.

I'm sure that would be a comlicated mess to code tho.
 
that sounds like counterstrike with vehicles, hehe

I may or may not have a few ideas, some less complicated to implement than others.

Wh-wh-what's it to you?

/me furiously gathers a mass of papers into a briefcase, slams it shut, runs outside into traffic, lays gasping as papers rain down on his broken body
 
How about a zero gravity mod where you can only move by shooting or throwing things with the manipulator?

And how about the billion new ideas this weapon would spawn? How about one person with only a manipulator and the rest only with grenades :)
 
First of all, we need to fully understand to what extent we can interact with the environment, what the physics system can do (we know it doesn't support fluid dynamics atm) and figure out how big of a deal it would be to throw a bunch of buggies and manipulators on a map with a given number of players. Once we are aware of the Source engine capabilities and limits, we can think of something funny :cheers:
 
well if cs:s is anything to go buy manipulator gun fights are not possible.

I haven't played CS:S, but I hadn't heard of any physics related constraints(?)
 
nor have i (and i was just playing it :p)

you could evan pick up the weapons and chuck them at each other, a much better idea then shooting imho... j/k
