I don't think you can arrest someone for a misdemeanor. They get a summons to court.

Before anyone asks, if they were to try to flee or something, or were wanted fugitives or someshit, then yes, obviously they can be arrested when charged with the misdemeanor.

Assault is something as simple as intimidation, believe it or not. I'm quoting a cop here, for when I was arrested for it.

The off-duty San Jose-based officer showed up at the teenager's home in full uniform and described him as "stupid"

"A cop's daughter is not somebody you mess around with," the officer told the teenager.

After removing the handcuffs, the officer told the boy's parents that he just wanted to scare the youth.

If that's not intimidation, I don't know what is.
