Cops vs Skaters

Hey, that was basically me in middle school.

That's why nobody likes cops.

American cops anyway...

Ya this happens a lot unfortunately. And the kid made a good point in the video, shouldn't the cops be out preventing real crimes.

When all fails go Big:

Wow at handling a girl like that, hope he said goodbye to his badger and hello to an assault charge.

Cop had no reason to arrest them, but it was pretty stupid of them to run away from a police officer.

They all did shit wrong. The cop did it wrong by arresting them and being so violent with kids. The kids did it wrong by running/interfearing. I would have just stood there, took it, then got him fired 3 days later.

My first instinct has always been to run, countless times. I mean, I'm smarter than I was then, so now I just talk to them. If their nice, I'll respect him/her back, leave, go to another spot and await the same fate. if their douchebags that have a dusty badge where their brain should be, I'm usually a smartass, but it all ends up the same. Nothing beats the thrill of the run though. I even got into a tug-o-war battle with a cop trying to snatch my board. I just bought that shit....hell no.

Police needs a reality check
Apparently the kid was suppose to be quick the bully or something like that. Hard to tell what is happening without all the info

That's like 13 year olds with server admin rights. I'm serious.

Cop got suspended on full pay...
For choking a girl. That's pretty much a holiday!

Oh, but the kids were breaking municiple law, so really the cop would have only been suspended for the OTT violence.

I'd really like to see this **** fired. I don't skate, but it pisses me off to no end to see people abuse power like that.

I wouldn't mind seeing those bystanders shot too. They didn't do shit, and just kept promoting the cop.

God damn, videos like that piss me off.

This cheered me up:

Except for that very end :O

Is there an ordinance against skateboarding? Okay, then they shouldn't be skateboarding. The police have every right to tell them that, and if they don't listen, they should prepare to have force used on them.

Oh, wait, that sounds like I'm supporting the gubmint!

ZOMG POLICE ARE BAAAAD
Wow at handling a girl like that, hope he said goodbye to his badger and hello to an assault charge.
And you're just a ****ing moron. Thinking a girl can't handle that treatment is an insult to women you sexist little shit.

There was no reason for him to explode like that. He told them to stop, and they did.

Half the people there were arrested for no reason. I saw one person who actually resisted arrest, and a bunch others who just exercised their rights to free speech. Hell, most of the arrestees actually cooperated with the bastard.

Not to mention the motorcycle that passes by the cop as he's arresting the kid. Neither of the two riders were wearing their helmet. I'd think that'd be a much more valid reason to arrest somebody, than for using a perfectly valid mode of transportation.

And did you see that? The girl blatantly stated "i'm not running. I have no reason to run", when suddenly the cop runs at her and grabs her, then forces her hands behind her back, and drags her off. That's mistreatment, regardless of sex.

Hell, that white girl didn't even resist at ALL, yet he kept saying "she resisted arrest". She was standing there, watching, when he turned around and grabbed her by the throat.

Cop had no reason to arrest them, but it was pretty stupid of them to run away from a police officer.

Once the kid ran, the officer had all the suspicion necessary to make an arrest.

The cops were a bit excessive, though. Like riding a skateboard is a serious crime. Go stop the rapists and thieves before you go after petty shit like this.

So what, he's just going to run after the motorcycle? Yeah smart idea.

You think they "just stopped", yet he exploded anyway? I highly doubt it. Of course we only see video after the cop "explodes", we have no idea what went on before that instant.

The only person that cooperated was the cameraman, everyone else resisted when he tried to grab them, you saw the one that ran. Not resisting = letting him arrest you, which is what you do in that situation. There was no "brutality" to be seen, he did not strike them or beat them, he restrained them, which is what you're supposed to do.

But I forgot, cops can't do anything right, so yeah, down with the gubmint.

Exactly.

Not being sexist != ignoring the difference between a man and a woman.

It's not being sexist to think assaulting a woman is worse than assaulting a man.

Assault is equally bad no matter wether its a woman or a man. I dont think beating up a woman is worse than a man, its the same. The cop should have been suspended without pay for use of necessary force.

The skateboarders shouldn't have been skateboarding, but that cop was way out of line.

I don't know which side I'd be on.

On one hand I am a skater so that's why I'd favor the skaters

but

on the other hand I want to be a cop when I leave school so that's why I'd be on the cops side.

The cop should have been suspended without pay for use of necessary force.
Lol typos. There was no force beyond what was necessary to arrest these shits. He was forced to restrain them so he did. Give me an example of brutality please.

Oh, so just because a person has a vagina makes them unable to cope with a headlock? I know plenty of tough women, in fact many of the women I know are more resilient than most men I know. Some of my least favorite people to fight in karate are women. Why? Because they're crazy bitches and tough. They're the ones that will push themselves that extra mile when all the guys are giving up. If you're going to act tough and resist a police officer, he's going to treat you the same way he'll treat anyone else, regardless of body parts.

He put two people who didn't resist, AT ALL, into a chokehold. He grabbed the girl, she backed off a bit, and then he put her into a headlock, and when somebody went "WHAT THE **** ARE YOU DOING?" he grabbed them and put them in a headlock too.

There's semi-justification on choking the girl, although i'd say barely any, but why the hell did he choke out some kid telling him to stop? Is talking considered "interfering"?

And look at the guys other vids. There's an unedited one that shows the cop choking some kid in the distance, and everybody walks over to see what's happening, when the cop starts exploding at them.

If you're going to act tough and resist a police officer, he's going to treat you the same way he'll treat anyone else, regardless of body parts.

She didn't "act tough", or resist.

Women want equal rights, but only those rights that are beneficial to them. This is not one of them.

Men and women are in equal in that respect, if they mess with a cop, they're going down.

Do you realise you are being your own definition of a sexist in this paragraph?

Which is why your extreme definition fails.

wow.

they weren't even black either. Good thing that cop didn't see any minorities riding skateboards, he would have shot them. He looks pretty hawt in those shorts tho...

edit: i didn't just say that...

She ran from him, he grabbed her. The other kid charged him, he grabbed him to. She resisted and was released. Or did you miss that part.

Did I say they were tougher than guys because they were women? No, I did not. Just as there are women that are weak and fragile, there are also guys that are weak and fragile, and there are women that are strong, and men that are strong. Treat them the same goddamn way or you're no better than the morons that prevented them for voting and tried to keep them in the kitchen.
Women want equal rights, but only those rights that are beneficial to them. This is not one of them.
I love how women want to fight on the front lines in the military but as soon one gets put in a headlock it's all "women are weaker they can't handle that!"

****ing hypocrisy.

Hell, that white girl didn't even resist at ALL, yet he kept saying "she resisted arrest". She was standing there, watching, when he turned around and grabbed her by the throat.
Did you not see what happened? He says something to the girl and she runs. Christ, she's lucky he didn't tackle her.

you're overreacting MiccyNarc and completely off base ..comparing women fighting on the front lines and a girl in a headlock is rediculous ..first of all potential women on the front lines are soldiers: trained and disciplined ..the girl in question probably weighed no more than 110 pounds ..fatty mcCop easily weighed twice that. To say she was a danger to the cop because women are capable of fighting in war is ludicrous ..should women be discounted a a threat because they're women? certainly not ..however each situation should be weighed individually regardless of gender: that's part of their training. He unreasonably escalated the situation and lost control ..that much is evident from the video and the fact he was suspended

all you have to do is say "look guys, do me a favor and go somewhere else and skateboard"...if they start being assholes about it then fine, get in their face....but i dont see how choking them was justifiable...

dude, thank you. This is something alot more cops should do. Every single time that a cop comes up and calmly asks us to stop skating and leave, we ( meaning me and my friends) respect the cop back and leave without a single problem whatsoever. then theres the ones that yell and freak out and threaten with cuffs ready, the ones that snatch our board (or at least try:sniper:) right off the bat. They don't tend to get much respect back. I've gotten searched many of times right when they get to whatever skatespot we are at. I love stereotypes, even though I do smoke pot, but thats beside the point.

Stern, watch the scene again. That wasn't a chokehold, he basically put his arm around her neck to restrain her. It's a basic maneuver that can cause no harm to the person it's performed on. Remember, he let her go. Does no one notice that?
but i dont see how choking them was justifiable...
No one got ****ing choked. A choke lock is completely different than what you see there, involves both arms locked on the person's neck, crushing the windpipe. Headlocks (what you saw there) are painless. Annoying and uncomfortable, but not dangerous whatsoever.

Someone tell me a better way of restraining that girl. Grab her wrist? That's a much more fragile area of the body and the girl could have hurt herself trying to get away. Pinned her arms? Well he would have had to get her on the ground first. Oooh now fatty mccop is sitting on poor little girly. Face it, all of you just want to put blame on the cop because hating the government is fun.

Girl1: I WANT EAQUAL RIGHTS TO VOTE!!
Girl2: I WANT EQUAL PAY IN THE WORKPLACE!!
Girl3: I want to be JUST as equal as men!!

Corperate America: Hey, since you're woman, you get cheaper insurance! Is that OK?

Girls: YAAAYY!!!

He's not talking about the girl at this point I don't think, iirc at the beginning of the video there's a photo of a kid on the ground with the cop's hands around his neck.

Personally I think that both sides ****ed up here. From personal experience I know that cops are dicks to skateboarders by default (anyone who's ever skated knows this; getting kicked out of places is a pretty regular thing), but I imagine those 13-year-old wannabe skatepunks started messing around. If a cop tells you to stop, you stop. If he tells you to leave, you leave. You don't stand around trying to act tough and argue and you certainly don't cut and run like a few of those stupid kids did. The cop used more force than was necessary in my opinion, and he was a monstrous prick, but he is not soley at fault.

Cops overreacted, Kids are moronic for resisting arrest.

It's utterly stupid to think all cops are like this, or even the majority. Yes you get bad cops, just like everything else.

Bunch of stupid kids, thinking they're fighting a revolution and they don't know what they're fighting for. Cops, probably overstrung from all the crap they put up with, and tired of dealing with it.

The police are there for your protection and to uphold your rights. Respect them.

you get about 25% shithead cops like that one, 25% nice/cool cops, and 50% apathetic ones that are tired of their job so they're not particularly nice or mean, just routine about stuff.

The majority of cops actually enjoy their job so I would disagree with that
