correct me if i am wrong...

but when HL1 came out did any of you notice a BIG BUG on it? did any of you find a glitch, a big problem that valve done wrong...?

no i don't think i heard about any major bug problem.

what i am trying to say is, when hl2 comes out valve wants it to be completely finished with no problems and no complaints or worries about bugs they have missed.

so if it did come out on sept 30th not finished because alot of people were complaining they want it now or never... yes they woul dhave the game, but give them 2days and they will be complaining about big bug problems to valve and wished it would be fixed.

dunno about you lot but i want the game finished and not have to worry about nothing wrong with it.

ok i think it is strange that valve is telling us about the delay 6DAYS before release which i think is wrong, but hay maybe the delay will be only 2weeks-a month tops :).

Well, they did delay HL1 for one year, and they did hyped it really bad back then.

I do want the game finished , but Valve has been saying the same shit since the first press release, until now , probably crushing peoples minds to ashes.

2weeks amonth tops? If anyone could verify this , it'd not matter alot :D .

But , i'm thinking more like 2-3 MONTHS for gods sake.

there were quite a few bugs in the original HL code...

you really think it will be delayed 3months? hmm i hope not i really hope not :(. i still think this yr for certain.

i hated it when you minimized and lost sound... pissed me off.

Well theres been alot of stuff about it being released on September 30th. So while I'd prefer them to release it when they think it is finished, I still think they better release it before the end of the year now. It isn't right to give us a date then release it a year later imho.

yes man i'm with you!

The first time I played HL I played it all the way through with no crashes, no bugs, no glitches. It was great. Perhaps the extra time Valve has on their hands they will use to polish up the game so it runs perfectly.

Well commando, I agree with you. great games need to be free of bugs and I prefer playing HL2 later in the year if Valve did have errors waiting to be fixed.

thanks.

ok it is annoying about the delay. but gabe said he will tell us when it goes gold before 30th.

so we will know the date. i just hope it is this yr. if it IS next yr i would hate it but i know it would eventually be for the best.

and when the day comes close for the release we will be so happy, and realise we didn't actually have to wait THAT long for one of the best games to under go a FINAL CHECK, bug fixing, better changes, cleaning up areas...to make us happy. :)

they delay it because they want to make the game completely done for US!

if they didn't care they would release it early and do patches in the future.

A finished game = a game with no uber bugs. Maybe if there is an official press release about the delay we'll know more. Right now it looks like $$$'s are the reason for the delay.

i didn't say just bugs. it could be anything to do with cleaning up the game to make us happy with it.

The games is done guys. It's just a marketing scheme to get more dough ! (ATI, valve, vivendi, sierra, etc.)

The fan community is worthless to those compagnies:
1) it's been delayed 6 days before its original release date...
2) no OFFICIAL announcement to the community whatsoever
3) it's the fans' money that important to them...
4) Vivendi is the worst game publisher ever
5) feel free to had zillion more of these...

Ja, but even if they did release it like, tomorrow. It'd still be fine in the end. Valve is a dedicated and skilled team of developers, and HL1 proves as a fine example that they aren't the kind of guys who make a game, make some cash and then patch it every coupla months with a few fixes while they work on expansions.

Lets take BF1942 for example. :)

Resource intensive, very bad netcode, practically no mod support, no SDK, weird physics and generally crappy expansions. Somehow it got game of the year in a gaming mag im subscribed to (PCPP) but the game is only really fun if you have a sub-30 ping and your computer can take the damn thing. Also, with BF:Vietnam coming out soon it doesn't take rocket science to figure out that BF1942 will never have the flaws that prevent it from being a great game fixed.

HL1 started out with that funny laggy-feeling netcode (click, lag, fire occurs) which I reckon is still better than BF1942's netcode.. but anyway, they later implemented what I think was the best damn netcode evah at the time, and the only other game I know that uses this mad prediction deal is PlanetSide. Plus with the SDK the game lived on through all those kickass mods.

Ok rant over.

Fact established: Valve > Dice.

Edit: Oh and about you guys thinkin they are just bastard companies out to get our cash. At least with Valve they'll have their guys working on improving the game, I don't care if they try to milk the public for money so much as long as they give back what they take.

Its not just bf1942 thats like this its EVERY game EA make. I just recently retired from a Medal of honor clan because EA have practically stopped providing patches for a extremely buggy game which in my view they are ethier taking the p!ss or just wanting our money, which is unacceptable. I wont be buying ANY EA games because they do this every time and they forget that there is an online community that develops with the game. EA are the worst game makers In my own opinion and are here for our money. There not getting anymore of mine.

Also now that they have "linked" with gayspy (gamespy) they are really taking the p!ss, personaly i dont want ad and spyware ridden software on my gaming machine that i upgrade to get the best performance i can afford, also lack of support for other browsers like the excellent all-seeing-eye is poor. They dont even try.

****EA.

I know from fact Valve are not like this and will stand by them.

Rant over :D

well if they do that, man that would be out of order don't you think.

all the people who buy it from steam will have it 1-2weeks before and will prob end up some how spoiling it for us...

and then we will have to wait for it to come out in stores and crap.

 Anthrax am win!

I might just do the same actually, about the not buying any more EA games thing. Though, EA are the publishers aren't they? I guess I shouldn't really be blaming Dice so much. If I remember correctly, isn't it up to EA when the game gets released?

I mean lots of different game development companies have made games under EA, and they've all followed this unsupporting release-and-forget pattern. I guess the game devs aren't bastards, infact they're probably frustrated. EA is evil. :(

EA are not evil, there just sh!t, look at there most recent games...

spearhead = 3 patches then no more lasts for 4 hours and sucks.
Mohaa = 3 patches then no more support.
breakthough = crap gameplay, waste of money.
bf1942 = crap netcode, gprx, 3 patches (think) and probably the last and system hog for what it is.

Oh yeah and they bought Westwood studios if u remember and ruined the whole CnC series by releasing a crap, hack infested game with crap online support game called Generals wth a poor expansion pack.

:bounce:  :bounce:

Couldn't agree more with you m8.

Down with EA

Stop assuming Valve's intentions are noble.

You are just a dollar, nothing more.
Your satisfaction is only important because it makes you spend more money.

I don't think that five years are only a dollar.Well at least with VALVe we get quality.EA gives us crap.

Ehe Anthrax spills truth from every orifice, yessss the puke of truth, the sneeze of truth, the ear wax of truth, the tears of truth, the BLOOD of truth and the uhhh.. the *cough* and *hack* of truth. :p

Annnnnnnnyways.

Seeing as I'm so bored, I wonder if I can put together a whole load of replies that sh0t has made, and make a case for him to be banned? That might be fun. :)

Most of the quality from HL came from mods.

sure the engine was good, the single player was neato but the real enjoyment came from mods.

So what did valve "give" us, I mean sell us.

VALVe gave us the game.Without it there would be no mods!

Plus Single Player Rocked.

What about the bug where a player can get stuck on a lift?, that one still shows up in the new steam upgrade.

see really there are no bugs and if there was they aint major.

and they didn't need hard work on them just a patch.

so hl2 must have something that valve wants to improve before they release.

they are thinking of us people. trying to give us the best experience!

i think there fixing the nvidia probs
testing on a bunch of hardware configs
fixing bugs ect

Who ever says its a big thing to steal our money is a dumbass
plain and simple :)

screw it.. I want the game now. I hardly ever have games stopping bugs anyway, I usually feel sorry for the people on game forums that do and continue to play the game.
*shrug* I'm not picky, just desperate.

Probably just a windows problem. Most games back then couldn't be switched out of without total crashes or freezes.

Yeah, and what's up with that lift stickyness? Is that a new one?

It's not new, I've suffered from it a few times over the years.
It appears to be fixed in one patch, then broken again in the next, then fixed in the next, broken again in the next... so on and so forth.

Both myself and my brother have experienced it on seperate machines in the latest steam incarnation of OpForces.

The official response to the bug is to use the -dev command line and to noclip out of the area, then turn noclipping off again.
Quite a poor fix for the problem if you ask me.
