Hi,

My new videocard (GeForce NX6600GT) and new 512 MB RAM (makes 1 gig) arrived couple of days ago. Now I wanna test my system, what the best options are. For example, I played HL2 chapter "Follow Freeman!", and got these settings:

* All the model, texture, shader en water details on high
* Color correction enabled, wait for vertical sync disabled
* AA 6X, AF16X
* HDR full

In that chapter I still get FPS around 40 -70, so thats great.

Are these the max settings? I know that HDR isnt fully used in the chapter so... In CSS cs_militia, where HDR is very supported, I NEVER get that FPS at such high settings... so I'll condigure that...

But these are the max settigns, right?

Thanks :)

yep, dont forget the screen resoultion too, but that depends on your montior.. But alas your computer should own now :D

eh nvidia cards dont use 6x AA try using 4x aa then you should see a performance jump

What is "color correction"? I've never seen that option before :|

it there but its grayed out for me could anyone explain this? mabye its like an option for the upcoming DoF effect

Okay, I got something that is very weird... in CSS, dust2 with maximum settings everything is really foggy it seems. For example, when I see someone in distance its very very unclear. Even with anisotropic set to 16x I really cant see it good! Is 16X the highest? Why cant I see so good from distance? Its very annoying, Ill take screenshots if you want.

The distance is sort of faded like a focus. The colours are softer, to make it more realistic, I think.

depth of field like i just said

The blurring effect when you turn on colour correction isn't DoF, it's just a side effect.

Colour correction is a technique that will be added to future Valve games that lets them alter the displayed colour balance of the picture to produce an effect. Kinda like how everything is slightly green tinted in the Matrix, and blue-tinted when they're in the real world. At the moment though, turning it on doesn't do anything except slightly blur the image up.
