Psychological warfare. Maybe Valve is testing our limits with this third test, better known as the Vivendi lawsuit.

Maybe October 8 is when we'll get the gold announcement, the day they're supposed to go to court, and this whole thing is nothing more than an elaborate hoax, with Gamespot involved in this shindig.

I'm sure both the companies would want to make themselves look bad through a heated lawsuit, then turn around and go 'fooled ya!'.

:hmph:

Again it is a welcome to see some peoples use of humor. I just wish you hadnt put it in the title. Funny none the less...
:)

If that was true, I'd wear a tshirt that says "Owned by Valve" for a year.

I seriously hope you're joking here.

Oww... I think my brain just died after reading this :(

They'd not possibly sink down to this level just to let us speculate over a damn test. :|

I can just picture it...

*its a quiet day down at valve, gabes playing some game and the staff are doing what they always do... that being creating a never ending pile of mistakes and follies*

"hey i know what we could do for the third test!"

"we could scare the shit out of our investors/shareholders and fans then laugh as our company gets the worst press youve ever seen for a games company"

*gabe pauses his game*

"f*ck yeah"

then again.. maybe not :dozey:

That's just ludicrous, man!

And Dougy, I don't think Valve has shareholders... ;)

Yeah - Valve is a private company and has no public shareholders. All stock is probably held by the management team.

That's what I'm thinkin...

wouldn't it be funny if the game was not even done yet?

i mean, just becasue an RC has been issued, does not mean that it's done...

october 8th abosolutely has no bearing on the release/gold status of the game. the most that will come of this lawsuit is that proceeds from sales with be held in a trust account until things are settled.

i mean don't get me wrong, that's wuite a plausable theory, and i have thought such things myself, but i don't think it's true.

I think.... if anything.... they should be releasing to the community if there are major issues, and letting the community help. I mean, the CS:S beta is quite obviously the community helping....

conspiracy theory?
how about CS:S BETA is being run to compile nfo for making the AI seem real....and when they have tried to get the average of all people's responses to certain events,in order to assemble the AI, they get that get and mysterious "error: canonical vector".....

And they had planned it since 2002?

^^^You never know, this could be the first truly epic game release.

Xcellere - I love ya man but I think you need to take a break from the "X-Files" DVDs :p

yeah cadaveca and for the first time magazines are doing full reviews of a game not even done yet =p

I would laugh so hard if it was acually the third test. I would be like - hahahaha very funny, now where's HL2?

Wow, I think that that isa very very pausble theory, although by reviewing the previous test, numbers one and two, it is apparent valve is using a new type of game, called alternate reality gaming, and that I am to believe, would be an amazing tactic, like the halo 2 and ilovebees.com, and would be a huge plus for the Valve Marketing and PR departments. And would ultimately, draw in a huge fan base, including many new fans.

i was going on the ARG theory...i even posted "this IS hl2!'....
and then they copied my posts. Realtime. And then i thought of the bees...

1. Thous shalt VIEW SOURCE
2. think around corners
3. no brute force
4. insomniacs are us!
5. must....decode....message....!
6. no troll feeding, even after midnight
7. play the game...live the story
8. the truth...you shall never know the truth
9. POST FINDINGS!
10. HELP NEWBS!

of course this is my version...

anyway, all that happened, and then we got an un-announced preload..on that is not encrypted to boot...and the php site said "another time"
"intelligent" "clear" "time"....

bah it gives me a headache. THINK AROUND CORNERS!

Some time back I made a poll. "When do you think that HL2 will be released" Most of you (including me) said 15-30 September. The time is running out...

if you believe that, seek help, you are most likely clinically insane.
