He was called dave, he visisted my school with a rehab group to tell us the dangers of drugs, that was year 11, they visited again in 6th form, they told us that dave had died.

That might be just a gag to scare people off the drugs.

Or not... :O

But seriously, I don't see why people would even contemplate using heroine, although I guess with debt culture nowadays, the money isn't the issue :x

well, that sucks. Did she tell your mom? This damned ring of parenthood...

You mean youve taken the most evil drug evar and you havnt turned into a girl, gone crazy, murdered 20 people and caught smallpox? impossible.

so...we can't talk about drugs unless we take them? Why can't i just read about it from people who have stuided it and/or taken it?

"Female users may have interrupted periods. Heroin suppresses the appetite and dehydrates the body and this can lead to users not eating properly and their health subsequently suffering.

Someone withdrawing from an opiate habit (clucking, or going cold turkey) is going to have a really grim time. Hot and cold sweats, nausea, diarrhoea and confusion are accompanied by an intense craving to take more of the drug to make them well again.

Most of the dangers of heroin use come from using shared or dirty needles which can considerably increase your chances of contracting diseases like HIV (see HIV: preventing infection), hepatitis, septicaemia, gangrene and pneumonia as well as developing body sores and ulcers."

This is from the NIDA:
"Mental functioning becomes clouded due to the depression of the central nervous system. Long-term effects of heroin appear after repeated use for some period of time. Chronic users may develop collapsed veins, infection of the heart lining and valves, abscesses, cellulitis, and liver disease. Pulmonary complications, including various types of pneumonia, may result from the poor health condition of the abuser, as well as from heroin’s depressing effects on respiration.

Heroin abuse during pregnancy and its many associated environmental factors (e.g., lack of prenatal care) have been associated with adverse consequences including low birth weight, an important risk factor for later developmental delay.

In addition to the effects of the drug itself, street heroin may have additives that do not readily dissolve and result in clogging the blood vessels that lead to the lungs, liver, kidneys, or brain. This can cause infection or even death of small patches of cells in vital organs."

When did i say that? That would be stupid. Though, i bet peoples perceptions of a lot of drugs would be very different if they tried them themselves.

Having no money for food after paying the local dealer £100 for something that might cost £5 in a legal market is probably more of an issue.

This is really worst case scenario stuff. Someone who uses heroin a few times a day (94% of users dont even use it daily) might experience something like this for a relatively short time.
Heroin withdrawal is similar to nicotine withdrawal. Its a little more intense but doesnt last as long. Both arent even close to alcohol withdrawal, fyi. Its far worse. I think is the only drug that withdrawal from can kill you.
And lol at clucking.

Yay for clean needle restrictions.

You should pick your sources more carefully. They are ****ing idiots.

All of which is a direct consequence of prohibition.... clean heroin, injected properly with a clean needle does not do any permanent damage to the user at all. None.

it sounds like some of us are trying to argue that heroin isn't bad for you.

"Heroin is similar in effects on brain chemistry to endorphins, the natural (endogenous) opioids of the body and less potent. It competes with the endorphins for the specialized endorphine (opioid) receptors found on the surfaces of some body cells. The body responds by reducing (or even stopping) production of endorphins when heroin is consumed. Endorphins are regularly released in the brain and nerves and attenuate pain. The reduced endorphin production in heroin users makes them dependent on the heroin since a lack of either endorphins or heroin results in the extreme symptoms including pain (even in the absence of physical trauma). This is what causes the withdrawal symptoms in heroin addicts as the body takes some time to restore endorphin production."

I enjoy myself too much to be doing that to my body. I mean hell, when i ran cross country i didn't even drink caffeinated drinks.

Benzodiazepines (Xanax, Klonopin, Valium, etc) withdrawls are known to be fatal..

I can't think of any others

Seeing women treated like objects makes me glad I'm NOT a Mormon.

But seriously, Heroin has no negative effects, other than being addictive. It's the stupid shit people do to get another fix that is dangerous.

I l-o-l'ed

Well it makes you not care about your problems. As long as your on it everything is fine and will continue to be fine until you need your next fix. It's also freakin expensive!!! So people go out and start stealing shit and comitting other crimes to support it.

But I have to admit, it's one of the best feelings. Just imagine a full body orgasm that goes on for 3-5 hours.
