I might just used the crew that will hopefully volunteer for coding, and stuff.

I can't get the ball rolling, and get at least a shape of the mode, until I can get a hold of someone who would give me a general idea on where to start coding this thing. I also have NO IDEA how to compile this gigantic thing.

It seems pretty dead to me, since the last update to the site, was almost a year ago. :S

That's the post I made on the Gmod forums, but all I got from them was a mapper, and beta testers. WOW! What a staff.

So, I decided to a little googling, and wound up here.

I REALLY want to make this mod possible, but everytime I try to do some coding, I have no idea where to start, what to compile, what to even CHANGE, and any idea WTF I'm doing.

The offer still stands: $20.00 for the position of lead-coder.
 
When would they get the $20? As soon as they sign up, or after their work, at which point you could just take it without handing over the money?

Money for work over the internet without contracts is dodgy.
 
Coding cant be that hard, can it?

I mean it takes a about a week to learn how to map, a month to learn how to model, a year to be able to code?

I think people would be more willing to follow someone with experiance making mods or who was at least part of a mod team.
 
I will be lead coder for only five dollars.

However, I do demand a standard severance package.

I will play the lead coder, a one-time fee of $20, AFTER you at least get an alpha going.

After that, I will send you $20 via PayPal.

This mod is going to be released FREE OF CHARGE. It's a FREE MOD. I'm just trying to give the lead-coder an incentive to join.

Surely you could just withhold the money upon receiving the alpha?

Is someone supposed to go on the word of some stranger on the internet?
 
You make yourself sound cheap when you only offer $20 for coding that would usually cost, I don't know but around $20k ;P

Well, that's a decision you're going to have to make. You could just stop working on it if I don't give it to you. Which would cause the project to fall apart.

If you would be so kind as to reword that please... I don't know what a fiver is. EDIT: urbandictionary.com told me it is 5 euros. Let's see... That's 6.27186 USD, according to XE.com.

BTW, people, I need C++ coders. Not some just some "work". You also need to have at least some knowledge of the Source SDK, and how to change it. I will be doing the shit-work, as in coding weapons_whatever.txt's, and organizing models and textures. Shit that requires no knowledge what-so-ever, will be my field. You must also have your own IDE. Hell, you could use NotePad, as long as it will work for you: I could care less. I will do the alpha/beta/final compiles.

Can I take the position of Team staff coordiantor, I think once you have a coder etc, you'll need someone to organise pay (however small it may be) as well as duties.

I will work completely free* of charge.

The one I got from the FP forums is still supposedly "getting" VS 2003.

I raised this question a while back, if anyone was going to be making this, because I thought the first Counter-Life was awsome... anyway I hope to see this come together.
 
I'll update your website every few months with meaningless models that won't look like that in the game for a minimal fee.

Yeah, but not too many people see it my way either. Not many coders are just "waiting" to work for a mod.

It's going to use the HL2 SP's map.

Thanks slugger, I didn't know any of that. So what you're saying is that unless someone can get a professional team going, they shouldn't even bother making a mod? Good idea! There's that helpful Half-Life modding community for ya.
 
He's actually saying 'get dedicated people who believe in your ideas rather than offering to pay people - which is real cheap'.

It doesn't help that Gir seems completely incapable of detecting sarcasm and jokes.
 
If you want to disagree that this is a helluva lame-ass attempt at making a mod, then fine, but you're wrong.

I never said anything about being pro, thanks for the extra words in my mouth buddy! I did say something about being immensely awful, which is how this guy is going about making this mod, and which is why this mod will never do anything or go anywhere.

What he COULD have done is instead ask for coding help, try to research it and do the project himself, or at least had some sort of skill before assembling a mod team filled with beta testers. But what he DID do is try to come off as an actual mod, and try to compile a "team," and when no one agreed to it he offered money. Once he fell for an obvious mockery, he was mocked some more for being so gullible and inexperienced.

I'm glad you have respect for everyone and all, you must be a very helpful person in the mod community! What with all your "YOU ARE SO HELPFUL LOL[/SARCASM]" quotes. :upstare:
