The guys over at CSNation, rizzuh and asspennies have posted a fantastic article that discusses a wide range of topics including the recent dramatic change of management at PlanetHalfLife, Valve's continued dedication to updating their products and the persecutions Valve gets from the community often as a result of these changes. Here's a snip:

I realize I'm coming off as an overzealous Valve fanboy, and maybe that's what I am. I never saw Steam as a bad idea (although I really dislike the idea of forcing everyone to download Condition Zero, whether they were going to buy it or not), and I didn't blame them specifically for the multiple problems encountered during Condition Zero's development (even though I think they may have ultimately made the wrong choice one too many times in changing its development team) . I don't think there's any other company that has treated its community with the relative reverence that Valve has, and I'm sure they find the vitriol they receive as bewildering as ever. I'm glad they haven't decided to cut all ties, or as many as possible, with the community—although the fact that they've been more tight-lipped than normal over the past few years may be partially attributable to their frustration with their vocal "anti-fans."
If you would like to read the full article then you can see it here.

nice to see the community actually cares abotu each other, with expcetion of the occasional fights over supremacy

that's a good article - I know Kev Bowen myself, he's a great guy. It's really too bad things didn't work out w/ him and PHL

That was an excellent read, much better than reading forums full of people who hate Valve. Maybe that will change a few minds and shut some other people up.

I severely doubt it.

I'll admit Valve have had their faults at times, made a wrong decision here or badly implemented something there - but overall they're fantastic. I've never known a company like it and I get so annoyed when they have to put up with all the unconstructive criticism they get.

In a lot of ways they'd be best to close down the SteamPowered forums. They're very unfairly treated there.

Unfortunately you are probably right, at least now we have some ammunition to throw around next time Valve needs to be defended.

throwing ammunition? well that wont' help. We need to find some guns!
:-/ still reading the article it's exceptionally long. But it's good. :)
