Recently, the ever growing Counter-Strike: Global Offensive beta has had some pretty interesting features added to it, some of which are brand new to the Counter-Strike series. I decided in my position as media producer for ValveTime to produce several new videos to highlight some of the features, new and old, in our continuing gameplay series.

In the videos below, you can see the return of the revamped Italy, along with the newest gamemode and map in the series - Arsenal mode on the brand new map, Lake!

Features shown: Italy new look, changed routes and new areas, new weapons: Famas, Galil AR, P250 and Dual Berettas. Chickens.

Features shown: New map Lake, new official gamemode based off the 'Gun Game' mod.
No chickens.

If you had your hands on the beta, which map would you be interested in playing the most? Let us know!

So I see the movement speed hasn't changed, would it of killed them to keep movement speed slower, but with a sprint key. I like they are intoducing new official maps to the otherwise overused maps of 1.6 and Source. But I would of liked to see some new impressive game modes.

A sprint key in CS? The very point of this remake is for it to remain faithful and feel like CS. Why not suggest regenerating health while you're at it!

The age old tactic of using sound to identify an enemy location is based on the fact the default 'run' makes sound, but holding shift is a silent walk. The option of being quick and loud or slow and silent is key in tactical decision making and game balance.

Valve are one of the few companies that still make FPS games in this style, it would be a damn shame if they stopped doing that, and morphed into every other shooter on the market.

While people can argue that limited movement, iron-sights and animated view-bobbing can make games seem more realistic. They would betray the style of play that a game like Counter-Strike taps into.

If you aren't really into that style, that is completely fine! Because there are plenty of other games out there that do those other things well. But leave counter-strike as one of the few remaining examples of speedy arcade goodness that still exist in the world.

This. The stealth element in CS is brilliant (Well, I barely played 1.6, so I can only speak for Source). What I saw here in these two videos... well, let's just say that it wasn't pretty. I know bots were evident in these videos, but seriously, is this blatant (godawful) run'n'gun gameplay acceptable in the eyes of the Source AND 1.6 community? I'm confused.

Those are some nice shadows, alot better than Portal 2's low poly shadows.
