Counter Strike: Source Cheating... Valve Should Be Ashamed.

Counter Strike: Source has been out for quite a while now and even though it is a very good game, it is now up to the point where cheating is a plague which cannot be avoided, and the worst thing is, the cheaters dont care, because there is NO ANTI-CHEAT system for CS:S, and Valve doesnt look like implimenting one any time soon. There have been plenty of updates for Halflife 2 and HL2: Deathmatch but nothing except maybe ONE NEW MAP for Counterstrike despite counterstrike: Source players outnumbering HL2: Deathmatch players by 50-1.

Where is VAC2 Valve? What is going on? People are signing Petitions for information over at the steampowered forums and still you say nothing which shows your dedication to the online community.

I dont know about the rest of you, but this has ruined what was once a very good online game.

[rant] Wow. That's truly sad. VALVe have been working their arses off to get their whole Fanbase happy, and you bitch about something which they said they will release, and will most likely be releasing very soon.

VALVe have said, many times, that they will be releasing VAC2 soon, but you just can't wait. Why don't you just stop playing CSS until it's out, that way you can be sure not to run into any hackers.

These people annoy me. The ones who are just too impatient to wait a little longer for something to come out.

I think it'll be better that VAC2 is coming out later. That way, when it IS released, all the people who gave in to cheating will be banned too. That'll be fun.

Unfortunately, VAC is almost downright useless. You have to keep an anti-cheat program updated 24/7 in order for hackers to stay at bay. In fact, its so easy to get past VAC its almost redicilous. My 8 year old cousin has been using RGC Hook v1.3 for almost 4 months now in 1.6. I have serious doubts that VAC2 will be any more effective.

I haven't seen much cheating on CS: S. And I play quite a lot. I usually pwn cheaters too so I guess I don't notice.

The only cheat I see sometimes is this really weak speedhack that screws up the cheaters' recoil anyway.

Valve has said they will be releasing a huge update for Counter-Strike Source sometime this month. Perhaps it will have an anti-cheating system with it as well?

Then why wont Valve allow a 3rd Party program like punkbuster to be introduced, or even just TELL the community what is going on. Run CS:S and then set your filter to secure servers only... oh wait, there arnt any. Play CS:S for a few hours and your bound to bump into a cheater, i and many thousands of others have already and the most noticeable cheat isnt speedhacking, it's aimbot. I remember one guy boasted about using one and that Valve couldnt ban his account coz all he had to do was change his steamID, which is just stupidly easy.

Bitching? You'd be pretty upset if something you bought was being ruined daily by more and more bloody people yet the makers of the game, do absolutely nothing about it, and where has valve made any official comment on the status of vac in the past? Did they say they'd be doing something about it this month? No, they just said that "Something" would happen this month, which will probably just be the new map prodigy. What is the use of releasing a game with such an obvious flaw, like no cheat detection?

CS used to be a game of admiration of skill, but now it's a game of accusations. People cant tell anymore wether your just a good player, or wether your cheating in some way, and admins of servers raraly have time to spend playing as they have to constantly be on the lookout for this problem. It may not effect you, but it effects alot of others, so try to keep an open perspective.

If you havent spotted cheating, then you probably just play with a few friends, as where many others like to game at public servers, which is where the majority of the problems ocurr anyway. Playing against friends is fine, but playing against 32-64 other players is bloody fantastic.

How dare you be so idiotically blind to what is fast becoming the worst problem for online gaming, just because you dont play, doesnt mean you have the right to mouth-off about something you have no idea about. Many other users have experienced this problem, and im betting i know exactly where they'd tell you to stick your attitude...

2.) Dramatic? Lol, all im doing is asking what is going on with VAC2... an answer to a question, but i guess in your twisted 12 year old fanboy brain, that's going too far.

Play on good servers. And that one new map happens to be a bloody good one at that look at the screenshots. Can you please just shut up and put up with what happens to be IMHO the best online game available at the mo.

Like quite a few of you have said, the only cheat i've seen in Source is the speed hack and that's not exactly descrete now is it?

Nope, I've seen someone with a wallhack as well, he wasn't doing anything to hide it either... would run up to a wall, take out his awp, say "Enemy spotted" and then follow the bastard through the wall with his crosshair till he came out the door. Did it several times, he was actually 54-2.

Yes VAC was pretty useless, but VAC2 won't be. VAC2 will have full control over everything on the engine, etc, plus this isn't an opengl game so some of the hacks won't work on source engine. VAC2 will be worth the wait trust me, it will be updated a lot more than the original probably too.

Cheaters generally don't bother me, but I normally play on servers with admins..

I have seen several hacks though. The most obvious being the speedhack (which is also the easiest to counter because you can just shoot them, and the admin will ban them quickly)

I have also encountered people with aimbots... you can never be 100% sure, but someone consistantly getting headshots over and over again is just too good to be human.

There are wallhacks too.. still, not 100% verifiable if someone is using it, but if you observe someone and they keep shooting people through walls at odd spots then they are probably wallhacking.... (however me and lots of other people do shoot through wall at certain places just because they are popular camping spots....)

Gotta wonder what the point is though? Cheating in an single player game to get to the finish see the story I can understand (not agree with but understand) but what is the point playing on the Internet against other people? Surely if you are cheating well you are guaranteed to win so there is no challenge and no fun!
Surely the fun is in continually playing and getting better and learning to beat the better players!
Though having said that one of my friends was kicked of HL1 multiplayer severs load of times and accused of cheating and he has never used cheats in his life and having played him on a LAN 1 on 1 I know how good he is! I guess some people just don't like to loose!

They're not enough to make me unwilling to play the game, still the majority of players do NOT hack...

someone mentioned punkbuster? .. Wolfenstein Enemy territory uses that I think? ... I used to play that, but I would spec on people and notice weird things.... people with machine guns with sniper rifle scopes.... was one of the most inventive

a buddy of mine stayed over for a week and wanted to play enemy territory.... then he asked me if he could download hacks for it... after a lot of arguing that I didn't want something with a virus I eventually let him since I was tired of the game anyhow... I watched him... it had the whole shmear... aimbot, wallhack, fullbright.... and you know? ... he still sucked tremendously... and seeing the sheer EASE of being able to use hacks... NOT using hacks and WINNING sure puts a smile on my face...

besides... just because people are dominating over you in the game doesn't mean they're hacking.. keep that in mind, because it sounds like you're over-reacting
