Ever since one of the damn updates (I think it was the one shortly before DOD:S was released) I haven't been able to host a listen server. I can play on any other servers without a problem, but whenever I create my own, the game crashes to desktop during 'loading resources...'.

I've tried several different video drivers, removing sticks of ram, swapping ram slots, etc. A few system specs:

Abit NF7 Motherboard
Athlon XP-M 2500+ @ 2.3GHz
2x512mb Crucial Value Ram (...)
Hiper 580w PSU (brand new)
Leadtek 6800

I also tried deleting the resources folder and getting steam to redownload it, and it didnt help. So I reinstalled CSS, that didnt help either.

Can anyone get me back on my feet?

Yeah. Tried it again, didn't help.

Forgot to mention - usually there isnt an error message, but every once in a while it crashes with the 'memory could not be "read"' error.

All I can get you are these general troubleshooter guides, I'm afraid...

If that all doesn't work, you can try sending a support ticket via Steam Support.

Maybe use the information that first link suggested at the end of the article?
