Oh dear am I ever in need of help.
I've been trying to get my sprays to work for just under a month now with absolutely no luck.
The trouble is, I can see my sprays, the one computer attached to my network can see my sprays, but no one else on the internet can.
I make my sprays 256 x 256
Uncompressed TGA, 32 bit for transparency (256kb)
Then I convert it into a VTF.(I've used both tga2vtf.bat as well as the normal vtex.exe that comes with the SDK kit.)
Then I move the newly created vmt and vtf file to the appropriate folder:
Valve\Steam\SteamApps\username\counter-strike source\cstrike\materials\VGUI\logos
Then I open my game, go to options > spraypaint image and I can see the spray right there.
Sure enough if I join a game and spray a wall I can see it, the guy on my network can see it - but no one else can.
I know the guy on my network has Zone Alarm on it. Would that be wrecking anything and making it impossible for people to see the sprays? I also have a router and I'm not sure if that would be blocking it.
Or is it my TGA compression? Right now they're uncompressed so a 256 x 256 TGA is 256k. I think I read somewhere that it has to be under either 120k or 130k. But then I read somewhere else it has to be an uncompressed TGA to work.
I've also tried just mundanely importing JPG's and TGA's in the game's option menu (keeping everything under 120k) and still nobody can see anything.
I'm really at my ropes end. I'm somewhat heart broken over all the sprays I've made and just now I'm realizing that no one can actually see them.
Another weird thing is. . . I've tried making sprays for Half Life 2 Multiplayer doing the exact same thing I do for Counter Strike Source. And they work on Half Life 2 Multiplayer! But yet. . . I cannot get them working for Counter Strike Source.
Has anyone ever heard of this happening? Can anyone think of a step I might be missing? I've been through just about every tutorial on the net (Craig built a very nice one) but so far nothing has helped.
Thank you very kindly for your time.
