Counter Strike Source with Vehicles?

Yesterday I went to sleep and started to think about modding, mapping for CS:S. And then it hit me, with the New Engine, Realistic Physics, Great Graphics, Dynamic Lighting, and awesome Surround Sound what would happen if CS:S Had Vehicles in it? Now a server full of 32/32 Players would kick ass. WIth that many people on CS:S wouldn't be fun to have vehicles in it? Let say 5 Terrorist want to ride a vehicle. One of them is a driver, other on is on the other side of the front seat, while the other 3 Terrorists are in the back of car shooting Counter Terrorists. Now how intense it would be if Counter Terrorist were chasing Terrorists in a car shooting each other from each other's car. I think it would be really awesome looking. And if someone can make a new HE Greneade that can stick to a metal. A He Greneade with a little magnet on it so that if you throw it it would stick to a car and blow the hell out of the Counter Terrorist or Terrorist. Dont forget REAL Phyisics while you driver a car you run over your opponenet squashing them trust me thats a lot of fun. Now I know people would ask why we need vehicles in CS:S when we have to plant a bomb or rescue the hostages. Well i am sure when CS:S will come out people will make their own gigantic maps where vehicles could come in use. This is just an idea i tried to imagine it in my brain how it would look, and it looks pretty cool to me, try to imagine it yourself. By the way i am goona go and model a Vehicle just an example to show people what kind of vehicles we would use. I am not a programmer, i am more of a designer modeler/animator. I have 3ds max 5 (full version) and Maya Learning Edition. If some people who have programming skills and mapping skills it would really help out a lot if we try to make something cool for CS:S.
 
Maybe something for the T's, like the Terrs have to get to a car on a map and escape (like the old es maps) and they have to drive it to the start of the map with atleast 1 player in it.
 
It wouldn't be CS if there were vehicles.. would disrupt the gameplay :(
 
As its been said a million times..
Cs:S is a port.. there going to keep the gameplay the same.
Add Vehicles wouldn't keep the gameplay the same.
Leave it up the mappers for vehicles in (I mean look at what the guy who made jeapathon did...that still works today :) )

So i doubt Valve will add it in but if a mapper really wants to..i guess he coiuld..
 
Hmm I like the idea but it can't be CS, it has to be a new mod with a new concept like say something like Mad Max or like Battlefield I82. It's a good idea but it's just not for CS ;)
 
Plenty of custom maps for cs have vehicles. I'm positive it'll be done for cs:s in time.
 
^ Plus Valve said they are experimenting new map types and bigger maps.

Theres so many possibilities now, it would be dumb to write off vehicle play.

Not said to change the gameplay, or anything. The rules will be the same Plant a Bomb or whatever, only the site locations will be much farther than now. like in de_dust its like only 50/60 foot steps away. While in gigantic maps it would take 1500 foot steps to get to a bomb site, but with a vehicle it would much faster and more realistic. Plus Vehicles will be buyable and very expensive and to get a vehicle you need 15,000 dollars or 20,000. How many wins do you need to get that much money. It will be more challenging and the gameplay wont be changed much. But then again its your opinion :)

sorry to double post. In terrorists spawn couple of feet away there is a broken van and you get into the van and when I was in the back of the van it felt very very cool I hope valve will make more vehicles where we can hide or sumthing :p So I think it would kick ass to have Playable/Driveable Vehicles in CS:S

CS:S is just the same CS game in the Source engine. I have hopes that they will use the engine to its full advantage with CS2.

I never seen any not playable or driveable. All I saw is 2 broken vehicles in CS:S :p
 
An older version of cs_siege had a driveable APC.
 
Maybe if you can find one of the old betas. Bear in mind that HL was never designed to have working vehicles. It's buggy as hell.
 
U never know...I remake of siege may be on Cliffe's list as well. Complete with working apc this time?
 
Uhh, vehicles in CS: S would only work in the fun maps.

Vehicles would be great IN A NEW MOD, where they were actually worked into the gameplay.
 
Like it was in cs_siege, you mean?

The only reason it was dropped was because of the poor implementation o f vehicles in the HL engine.
 
Meybe valve will make Vehicles for CS:S in some maps but I doubt it tho :p
 
im sure they wont be officially released...but look at counterstrike now....even with the most horribal cars...tons of people still play car maps and love them, in source im sure some really great car maps will be made, im sure you wont be able to sit in them like half life 2, but they will probally work much like they do now, except without the horribal clipping and cars magically falling through the map
 
While playing CS Source and thinking of vehicles (like that busted microbus or whatever it is), I thought of the idea of a CS Source map (or a map for any future HL2 mod, perhaps Specialists could put it to better use) that takes place entirely in cars that are in motion like on a big freeway, and you don't drive any of the cars, there would just be NPCs behind the wheels (letting players drive would just make it too easy to screw up the map). Players randomly spawn in different vehicles (like say a bus, armored van, single occupant cars), and you'd be taking cover and aiming out windows at the other team's vehicles trying to hit their tires and engines (and maybe gas tanks). So the two teams would be aimed at each other from different lanes. Any excuse to actually be driving around in a tiny van thing like in dust firing at people. I think that would be awesome. Maybe add some potholes or the occasional shake effect to throw off people's aim, so it doesn't turn into a festival of savants instakilling every car in 10 seconds flat. Too bad I'm horrible at making maps and coding or I might try this. :(
 
There are commands already implemented in cs:s beta but they dont work that spawn stuff. One command spawns a jeep and one spawns an air boat lol.

To confirm this go into console and type c but dont hit enter just hit the down arrow key and look thru all the commands till you see someone that is like c_createjeep or c_createairboat it was something like that ill get in game soon and get a screenie of it for you guys.

Keep in mind these dont work yet they are disabled for beta.
 
vehicles would be brilliant in cs maps i think... for break from the norm maps (like fy_ maps)

theyd ruin the balance of current maps, but for new custom maps i think they could work really well

Imagine a map like cs_assault, only bigger and the CTs start much further away. At the CT spawn, there's a SWAT truck and two cars. Everyone piles in and they shoot off towards the warehouse.

One car heads along the bridge, 3 CTs inside. Halfway along, a T on the roof gets a lucky headshot on the driver. The car goes over the edge of the bridge, gets some air and smacks down onto the ground, knocking a large chunk of health off the two remaining CTs inside.

The second car comes through the back way, keeping a building between itself and the warehouse. It stops briefly twice to let each CT out before driving to the back door of the warehouse to block it.

The SWAT truck drives straight at the entrance, smashing the closed bay door and squashing 2 Ts. It screeches to a halt at the back of the warehouse, and the truck doors open to let out the remaining CTs.

Cue one huge firefight....

Sounds like fun to me.
 
CS:S is only going to be a direct port in the beginning. They said they are going to continue making changes to it from that point. So, quit using "it's just going to be a port" in an attempt to prove that something won't be in the game. None of us know where they are going to take CS:S after the initial release.

I love that idea.

I know that VALVe probably won't put vehicles in the maps that come with the game, but i hope there are hundreds of fun vehicle maps, and good maps that involve vehicles in the gameplay.
 
Vehicles is more aof a battlfield thing..

That is why i love cs, it is first person tactical gunplay..
 
So have a new map type - ve_whatever

that way, people can choose.
 
Like any other feature, if used well, it can really enhance a game. If vastly overrused or used badly, it's awful.
 
Guys, I was playing CS: Source online the other day. I went into the console, and tried typing in some of the cheat commands, like
SV_Cheats 1 and so on. I came accross this little command (Where you type in a little of the word and it comes up with the list of possible commands) that was a cheat to spawn a vehicle. I can't remember which one. Try it. Seems like they will be including vehicles.

LOL! That be awesoem! IF its true :p
 
Vehicles were removed because in their current state they were detracting from the gameplay, and couldn't have improved to the point of playability on the HL1 engine.

You couldn't "get in" them, they would get stuck on level architecture, they sometimes gibbed players inside them, and they looked like they were made of of legos. Sounds like a good enough reason to take them out.

It was a new thing to make the mod bigger. And it worked. After the fun though, they just made the game stupid.

Ah, remember the railroad map? With the little dinky handcarts? Ah the old days of beta.
 
There's going to be better tools for vehicle creation. They will be implemented more in cs:source once hl2 comes out.

amen brother. That's why it shouldn't be in cs. if you want vehicles play another game. Let's just say the ct team has a swat vehicle. the ct would stay in the vehicle waiting on the t to come outside to run him/her over. It would not become a shooter anymore; it would become a driving game.
