ok guys, someone guid me, asus u just observe us and tell us if we are on the tract. i will provide u with settings using pictures while u guys tell me how to set up my fans.

computer specs:

p4 3.0 ht
asus 9800xt asus duel fans (default)
kingston hyperx p3200 ddr400 duel data
asus p4c800e-delux
hd not important. probably 40-60 gig 7200 rpm, ibm or western dig.

ok this is the case!!!!

http://www.crazypc.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=120199&Product_Code=8145

its got 5 80mm fans, 1 front (directly positioned infront of hd), 2 side(close to 9800xt), 1 back, 1 top

now someone please tell me what is the best setup using a duct system cooler for this kind of case.

but befor u give the set up in detail, can someone explain to me, are there 2 fans in teh duct, 1 on oposite ends of the duct, one on the cpu and one on the back, and how does air go in and out, is air blown into the case from the back duct to the cpu. or is the hot air blown out from the cpu to the back fan.

i think its hot air is blown out and not cold air blown in. u get what im saying. because of air is blown in to the cpu throught the duct, where does the air go after it reaches to teh cpu, are there holes on the duct? or is there a passage way?? i dont know u explain,

ASUS U BESTA POSTA!!!!!

i would make the fron top and back fans as input, and the two side panels as output.

so air is coming in from 3 directions. from top, from back and from front,

and because vga will get hot, the two side fans are close to it, they will push all hot air out. is this a bad plot?

notice i did not account the duct cooling for the cpu, can somone please help me out with this

Let me try to figure out what you are saying...and why you did not even ask me? :cheese:

Check it

Look at my setup, I had to separately buy my duct fans, they are both "Thermaltake Smart Fan II's". Now, each one of these fans (2) are attached to each end of the duct, both blowing in for reasons I will get to later. Each of your Smart Fans will come with an optional temperature sensor, use them by all means use them. The fans pull cold air in from outside:
A - Because it's cold air, not hot case air from inside.
B - If you pull air from the inside it is hot and you will most likely collect more dust on the sides of the heatsink.

The fans are simply mounted:

Rear of Case|Fan1-----duct------Fan2|Heatsink|CPU

The other way is not possible with your setup:

Front of case|Fan1-----duct-----X (video card and hard drive bay)

It will bottleneck there.

OK, the ducting system will work best on the fan nearest to your CPU, for me it was my rear fan. It was a very tight fit but works better seeing as I could not get it past my vid card, neither will you. More than likely the duct will have to be cut in half.

As for your fans point all of them in, except for the top fan, this will create an overpressure which will help. I have tested this theory. It is also recommended that you buy 80mm fan filters for your stuff because it will get dusty with the mass air flow.

Feel free to browse my PC pictures for more info....

Again, I cannot stress enough the importance of using extreme care when mounting this, be sure to turn Anti-Burn shield on to it's lowest temp (55C if i'm not mistaken for P4's?). You will be working with clamps and bolts, one other thing you may want to do also is get a Copper Shim...

again all of these are found at www.svc.com

If you have any immediate questions regarding this contact me by E-mail (look at my info) or contact me via AIM "RABIES 360". Or simply reply to this post and I will get around to it...

I would play around with it and test different setups.
Just by looking that picture, I would use the front and 2 side fans as intake. Maybe hook the top side fan to the cpu/heatsink.
The rear and top fans can easily exhaust hot air fast that is sitting next to your drives or CPU.

Also that would allow the lower side fan to blow on your AGP/pci slots to help with cooling.

That's about exactly how i have my case fans setup and i maintain very cool temps at all times. I dont remember exact temps right now but last i checked was after playing UT2003 for an hour and my mainboard and CPU temps were between 30 - 40C.

Specs

AthlonXP 3000+ not OC'd
ATI 9800 Pro 128
2x512mb pc3200 DDR RAM
Asus A7N8X 2.0

Also my bedroom is always very cool, around 65 degrees F.

ok i think i wanna do this

top fan|filter|air >>>>|filter?|fan|heatsink|CPU
front fan in,
2 side fans in,
back fan out,
powersupply fan out,

so its 2 exhost 4 intake

guys tell me if these fans are good, i was gonna use the antec smart fans 80mm, they have sensors and slow themselves down. i think can someone verify this?

for the fan on top fo the cpu should i get a regular fan thats constantly blowing at 1 seed or just make it 6 antecs instead of 5.

RABIES IM GOONA RAPE YOU!!! if my cpu isnt 27C + - a few degress, u hear me!

idk if having the top fan go to the CPU is a good idea...
drop something in there? dust falls so I would think you'd be cleaning that filter more than if it was else where.

Hot air possible build up around the 5.25inch bays.

Here is a pic of my idea.

mr rabies' idea is also nice though.
(+15mins)

nice nice i c it, do u put filers on exhost fans or only on intake fans?

Intake for sure.
If you really wish, you could be wastful and put them on the exhaust. ;)

What are these 'filters' you speak of? Link?

The inside of my case builds up a lot of dust after a while and i'd like to avoid that if at all possible.

na i dont think i want to put anythign in the way of hot air coming out of my comp, just let it come out freely, ill have a fan girl, so i dont think ill be droping pennies in my comp for good luck. lol

hhahah my fan filter link is much better HAHAHAAHAHA ok ill shut up now :bounce: OMFG its bouning!! LOOK!!!!

thats what im saying,

i didnt want to put fan filters, but asus says its good for dust, so i put it, obviously airflow will definitly be reduced but by how much? i dont know.

My fan filter with my case isnt as dense as those.
Link
Scroll down a bit, last pic on the right shows the filter that I have.
Its thicker but not as dense at all.

Updated with better pic

now i realy do not feel comfortable with a filter man, that shit is to think.

i bet 50% of air is blocked out. no exageration.

You don't need a filter on normal fan intakes but I would it would be a big help to put one on your intake that goes to the CPU through the duct.
Don't want dust build up in the heatsink fins now do ya? Which makes your temps rise a lot.

Well, mine came with my case. But do you really think that?

ya the duct comes with its filters, no dought a filter on the duct is a must.

but for regular intakes i dont think so, but then again its all about prefference, i usualy clean my case very few months, this is my current crapy one, i get a lot of dust between heatsinks of CPU, i dotn care its a 1.6
when i get the 3.0 ill clean that shit every week, ill open and blow dust down the third floor!!!! ahahah

with my Staples air clear lol

i dont know, im not a prof builder and have not tested those 2 filers, but just by the looks of it ied say so, i just have an insecurity problem, like i said in my top post, ill clean my shit every week, filter or no filter.

I use all wire mesh filters, the plastic ones that come with the duct suck. The ones from www.svc.com are alot wider in the mesh so you get better air flow. As for intake and exhaust, Asus's picture is correct. That is my exact setup, you will always want that top fan blowing out because that hot air and dust will ruin a CPU. I will get a pic of my filters and post them here for you to see....

OK, once again....here we go....The filters

Your intake for the duct:

Duct Intake

Notice the Orange Smart Fan

The intake for the bottom case fan:

Bottom Intake

Both Zoomed Out:

Both

Over these I have made my own cover, it cuts down the noise by about 30%.

And lastly the included power supply hot air redirection duct:

Power Duct

When using rear intake it keeps your power supply from venting hot air into your duct....pretty cool huh..

And of course the top exhaust fan, pushing about 6 fans worth of air out..lol....

Blowhole

One more thing you must watch, make sure your duct is inside your case far enough--- Door Problem ---it must clear the side of the case, otherwise..."crunch"

rabies u ass lover why dont u ever get on aim, im iming you, its saying ur off! GET ON NOW!!! HYENOLIE

i have only 1 exhost in the back, 2 intake from side, 1 duct one reg for case , mine will be dif than yours, plus, u have fan grils, not filters. that metal thing u call a fan filer is a grill, dust can easily pass thorugh those grand canyon sized holes on ur gril.

GET ON AIM!

I am on AIM, I have been for the past 5 hours

RABIES360

sorry, without the space

Those filters (the plastic) they actually filter more, but they cause alot more air resistance because the material is different. The mesh filters will last you longer and they can be cleaned by just using a brush, you don't even have to wash them...

it says ur off, RABIES360, u AIM me hyenolie

do it now! NOW!!!!!!!!

ur settings are prolly messed up, contact me,
