CPU temperature

Right now i have an Athlon XP 2800+ in my computer (I know its old) and I am slowly trying to overclock it. I recently bought some faster memory (it runs at DDR 400) and I am trying to OC my FSB on my processor to match it, it has a 333mhz stock and I'm about 370 FSB right now but just sitting here typing it is running at 48-52C.

I am wondering how high I should go before I should stop pushing it.

When I play a game for a few hours it dosnt really seem to affect the temperature of my CPU. After playing BF2 and F.E.A.R. for a while I will check the temperature and the most I have seen is 60C and that was on a hot day.

If the games really arent affecting the temp. that much do you think I should just go higher? or what do you guys think I should do?
 
Not much at all unless you get a better heatsink/fan for that. Just remember to increase voltages as you up the rest and see what a good level is for your processor.
 
If FSB is at 370MHz, what's your FSB multiplier is set to?
And how are you trying to match stuff? Please post here how you did OC-ing.

See if your BIOS has temperature control in the PC-Health area of the BIOS and set it to shut down PC at 70c to be save, since you're already climbing 60c.

Well I have pretty much left the CPU multiplier at 12.5 but right now I think that my FSB multiplier is at 187, so im running at 2.33ghz right now.

What I am trying to do is just speed up my processor FSB to take advantage of my faster memory that I bought.

I have also brought the voltage up a little, right now its at 1.67 and it comes with 1.65, so far i havent seen an increase in temp after bumping it (the FSB) up another two clicks (running at 48-50C right now)

I do have it set to warn me if it goes up to 70C right now but havent heard anything yet...
 
Go Easy on volts, you don't really need that much, 1.5-1.55v will do your OC-ing fine.
The question is never how high can CPU go, but how high do you want to go. unless you're extreme OC-er and like to push CPUs until they crack.
I don't know what memory modules you bought and how many bytes, but I can give you a head start by bringing up your FSB back to 200 and FSB multiplier x10, then add 20MHz=2200MHz and then work your way up from there on. Once your CPU FSB is OC to 220x10, this will also OC your HTT to 220x2=440 then set your HTT multiplier to x3 and this will set your memory to 440x3=1320 which is above and below your HTT target. then Google around and check what's the best memory timing for your modules and set them accordingly.

Set memory volts to 2.6-2.7v accordingly.

Prime test it after setting for 8hrs.

About the CPU temp. 45-50 idle is little high for me, mine is OC-ed to 2.6GHz from 2.4GHz and temp stays around 30c idle and 40-45 full load.
