Hes just said in irc that hes given up trying to make it work.

I bet he couldnt crack a walnut, anyway i believe steam checks for the key everytime u start steam/open ur game list/start the game etc, and thats done remotely, not in some file, so i dont really see what he was trying to do, unless he was trying to hack it into working outside of steam, which is kinda pointless.

tbh whenever you play it, steam downloads something into a folder, like you say, it verifies it everytime u play it

Dickwads? I'm Russian and I take offence to being called a "dickwad". Yes, the piracy problem is really bad in Russia (when I was there, you could buy any movie/cd/game for about $2.00USD), but the're starting to take action. Do go as far as calling them "dickwads", please.

Maddoxx doesn't actually do anything himself, he just steals other peoples work and posts it as his own. At least thats what people have said in other forums and I find it believable considering this Maddoxx really does act like an utter moron in every thing he does.

Just don't anyone get too excited, HL2 and CS:S will eventually be cracked. Its just good that they failed for now.

Yes that's true, it could have been. Not saying it was or it wasn't. But for certain it's changed now.
It's impossible to get his IP on irc because he uses the quakenet mask (which a lot of people do) hiding their IP. Even if he didn't he has a bouncer (which again many people have), so if you dns'd him you would only get the ip of the bouncer host.
Apparently they got his IP through him visiting one of their sites, although if maddoxX is telling the truth about all these proxies he is behind (which is again debatable), then the IP they had was not maddoxX's. But who knows?

Don't know if i'm suppose to post the link for this site or not. O well.. "H L 2 W O R L D . C O M" check the forums.. under counter-strike : Source.. They've figured out a way to bypass everything and actually play the game. I personally have no tried it yet but my friend did.
