Crackers FAIL!

Oh well, It was only a matter of time i guess, obviously its non steam so they can only play offline, pehaps with each other if they hack it about a bit.

PS. We have seen a hundred screenshots so i dont see the point in posting one as proof, ive read the post and so far its all talk, (im not saying its not true, and its inevitable the content would be cracked in time).
 
Well, I did a little snooping around, and it does indeed look like it's been cracked to run without Steam (or is it with Steam? I didn't do a thorough search, just found a few sources). Sucks ;(
 
as if you would waste the time downloading/cracking a beta that you will most likely never be able to update, and wont properly be able to play on the internet!
some people have waaaay to much time on their hands

Looks as though your friend is running DX9 hardware. Dont suppose you can get him to get some Screenies of the indoor section (specifically the specularity of the tiles on the floor)?
 
I actually had many people coming in and out of our server today claiming they were running of cracked versions of the game. They were saying it was released this afternoon.

It has been cracked.

I have been playing the cracked version and although it is ****ing amazing playing cs:s I was getting 20-30 fps

even other people I know with good set ups but using the crack were getting around 50 fps max.

Im not sure if its like this for people without the crack.

I also didnt need to connect through steam and I could find all servers.

Saw someone skywalking though hope they fix that bug D:

fixed today in new update. but i wonder if the update goes to the cracked people too?
 
Well I cant see the harm if I have paid valve full money for everything :/

the cracked version was the updated one... so apparently cracked people can play on regular CS:S servers :\

EDIT: nvm... i guess i was wrong
 
You will be happy to know theres seems to be another update which is causing a protocol 3 error to the users using a cracked version.

So we cant play online atm only on LAN D:

ah well /me waits for the new cracked version :p or for the official cz release date :D

Amazing. Even though the GCFs for CS:S weren't encrypted, you managed to decrypt them. Fantastic.
 
what everyone needs to understand is steam is the worst thing to happen to half life and cs. Also valve is the greediest gaming company with some of the worst programmers. Of course this is all my opinion but I certainly can and will give you very solid reasons why I feel this way.

First, they rehash a game that's over 6 years old a million different ways. The technoligy is about a decade old. It's really terrible that they have been just about up to this point reselling something so basic. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE counterstrike, absolutely, 110%. I also love the fact that it was a free mod. What is sickening is that they are trying to make this condition zero stealing the counterstrike mod and repackaging it with some "enhancements" which really don't do anything and then selling it. FURTHERMORE, becasue they know that it's a hunk of junk they make an insentive where you can beta test cs source when if you purchase it. That's terrible. Most betas are free. At this point it should be. They don't even care about their loyal customers who have been waiting years for hl2 to come out.

Moving on to point number two. By the time hl2 does comeout it will already be really dated. Now having dated graphics hasn't been a problem for half life in the past. I'm sure 90% of people who play hl2 will do so for counter strike mod. However, they've really put hl2 off WAY too long. Some stupid excuse about the source code being leaked, etc. Oh it's a conspiracy! There must be lives at stake it's the most horrible scandal in the universe! Oh come on, drama queens. Just admit that you are embarrassed that the graphics aren't as good as they could be. That Doom3 shattered your ego at shows and reviews.
Furthermore on that note they shouldn't worry as Doom3 is a COMPLETELY different type of game.

Anyway, the last point (and there's more but I'll spare you) is that everyone knew that valve screwed up CS's gameplay. They've made it a little better now, but everyone who used to play original CS really really hated valve. In addition to basically ruining CS for a while, it was very terrible that they took it upon themselves to do wahtever they want with it and change things because somewhere some idiot thought it'd be better. It was probably someone in the company who doesn't even play many games or someone who was never good at CS and just wanted to do it in protest. LOL, who know's why. The point is Valve and Steam really butchered things and they are really really greedy. They don't give a crap about their customers and they even make mistakes and ban people who have done nothing wrong because they are so paranoid someone might steal their now what, 6, 7 year old game?

So I say congratulations to the people who have cracked it. I say that's good. Many wonderful things have been made possible by crackers too mind you. For example if any of you like other maps besides dust...then you should be praising these people you think are terrible.
They aren't terrible people. They are just frustrated loyal customers who aren't cared for. If counterstrike didn't exist, half life would be dead. It's a fluke that it caught on soooo much and became sooo popular. It's really gone to their heads and I definately think something will eventually come along that's better. That's going to happen soon if they can't step things up with their graphics.

Mind you, yes, I do have some framey game play with hl2, BUT their graphics aren't super good so I shouldn't. It's simply bad programming. Very very sloppy. I'm not a programmer, but I've taken some courses and I know when something doens't run fast it's usually because the programmer didn't optimize it and they were sloppy. The probably coded something that was easier for them, but required more from a computer. Look at Doom3.... real programmers did that one and it runs on many many systems and looks REALLY good for what it's runnning on.

Anyway, that's all I haev to say about that since I'm in a chatty mood.

To all the people playing the crack, you probably have a trojan now. Is it even worth it? Playing offline with your self?

HL2 is coming soon, and cs:s will come with it, its not that long of a wait, yeesh.

Maddoxx wont be able to play ip tricks forever. Especially when he is being beaten with knightsticks.
