Crash when CD is inserted

I have the game installed, and it has been working fine. If I quit, and try to start it up again, my computer crashes as soon as it begins reading the disk. (I have the 5 CD version). It does not matter how I try to launch the game, through steam, from the desktop icon, or just putting in the disk. As soon as my drive begins to read the disk, my computer restarts. No error messages.
From there I can play again, until the next time I quit and come back to play. I hope someone has some suggestions. Thanks.

Now I get an error message saying there is a driver problem. I installed the newest drivers for my graphics card, and still have the same problem.

P-4 2.60GHz
1 GB Ram
Radeon 9600xt
XP Home Edition with SP2

As a test, I played HL2 for about an hour. No problems. I quit and loaded up Doom 3, Far Cry, and Painkiller and played each for about 15 minutes. Still no problems. I stuck the HL2 disk back in, and my computer reboots and says there is a fatal error; problems with a driver. Has anyone else had similar problems? It sucks having to reboot my computer each time I want to play.

Problem solved. It was a problem with the cd. Installed a no-cd patch. Works fine now.
