Crashes to desktop!!!

Alright peeps,

Got my copy of Doom 3 last night and guess what? The damn thing crashes to the desktop when I try to use the elevator control panel to go to the maintainance sub levels at the start of the game.

Anyone else having this problem? :flame:

Oh, incase it's relevant to anyone heres my current system specs:

Win XP Pro SP1 (SP2 has issues! )
AMD Athlon 3200+
ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe Motherboard (BIOS v1011, latest nforce drivers)
1GB GeIL Golden Dragon PC3200 RAM @ 400MHz
Galaxy Glacier 6800 (Detonator 61.77)
Creative Soundblaster Audigy 2 (latest drivers)

Get memtest86 and test your ram for problems.

Lower the graphics.

I I haven't tried turning the gfx down from high to medium becuase I should be able to run it on this settings with my rig. I'll try that tonight, see if that helps.

yes the exact problem. its more random though, sometimes it dosent. and it will to continue to pop up in random and frustrating places. :angry: :angry: sometimes it caused the system to completey lock up and i had to turn it off at the switch.

i got the latest ati divers and the problem went away. maybe get the latest drivers for your card. see if that helps.

i don't get any crash to dekstop problems, but i get the occasional lock up, and sometimes my VPU will go into recover mode at completely random moments. i've got a 9700 Pro using catalyst 4.7s. nothing's been overclocked or anything.

Jez, update your graphics drivers like burnzie said.

It happens to me tooooo , but only when there is a lot of special effects.
And I have a medium PC config:
Barton 2500, 512MB Kingston PC3200, Gigabyte R 9600 PRO, A7N8X-Deluxe.
So I have to Quick Save every minute or two :afro:

I have Detonator 61.77's running atm AFAIK there are no other newer certified nvidia drivers. I'm going to format and reinstall everything soon. Hopefully that'll sort out the problems.
