Crashing at security checkpoint at start

Hi guys, If you can help I will gladly father your children (erm)

The problem is a strange one, everything seems to work fine I get off the train and walk around the city for a bit, I pick up rubbish and throw it at people, as you do, but then as I follow the path I get to the security checkpoint bit, you know where you get herded into a cage and wait for a door marked "security" to open.

However everytime, just as it should open - the whole screen locks up and the sound loops - I need to hard reboot to get out of it.

Anyone heard of this? Is it an autosave point?

Also how do you download updates for HL2 - if you've logged into Steam should it do it automatically? Is there somewhere I can check for a Version number?

I've also already updated graphics, sound, BIOS etc to latest versions - have also fiddled with memory sticks. :afro:

Still has no one come across the lock up at this point - continually? Strange that there must be something that's triggering it.

I am having the same problem man!! The game is a little stuttery to start but seems to settle down as i walk around a bit, when i get to the security check a guy comes out of the door and tells me to follow him. This is where my screen just freezes completely. My keyboard does not work and i have to reboot. Very anoying and driving me mad!!!!! Help us guys out we are missing out on all the fun your experiencing. PLEASE!!!!! :flame:
