Crashing while loading.

After an incident where I quicksaved right while the game crashed for whatever reason, I have not been able to load the game. I get to the menu screen, and the graphics look fine, everything seems alright. Whenever I try to load the game the loading bar suddenly tears up as if I had some wierd overheating issue, and the game locks up. It's pretty weird since I have no other problems like this, and the game seems to run fine if I leave it in the menu.

I've tried to load different saves, other than the one that crashed, as well as starting a new game.

I've also tried to take a backup, and reinstall the game, as well as vertifying the files via Steam.

Do I have to download the game again?

Any help would be appreciated!

Have you installed any new drivers? software? or edited anything? Also what about the original HL2 (if your playing Ep1) or Lost coast? Do they do the same things?

Thanks for the reply.

I reinstalled the game, reinstalled the drivers, as well as my mobo drivers, and now it loads as it should. Kinda silly, since I had like 20 minutes of gameplay left. Anyway, it's all good now.

I had odd artifacting too, once. I reinstalled my drivers and they were gone.
