EDIT - problem was resolved. See post #2
"Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
I get this message all too often.
I've had this problem for months where if I open a folder with a video file, and I haven't allowed the thumbnail to appear over the icon, and I cut the file so I can paste it somewhere else, it will crash windows explorer.
So, I've learned to wait a moment for the thumbnail of the video to appear before moving it
However - recently I downloaded a music video of a live recording that will crash explorer If I even open the hard drive folder. I can still work with explorer, but I get the message, "windows explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close"
So I ended up deleting the video.
Now, I've got a video that is over 800MB and I would like to keep it, but it's the same thing. The video actually plays fine, but If I open the folder it's in, or even the parent folder it's in, it will cause explorer to restart.
EDIT - OK didn't see this
It says Error signature - Xvidcore.dll
I'll try reinstalling Xvid codec or something.
Like I said the video plays perfectly, it's just that it can't draw a thumbnail for it for some reason, and it crashes explorer.
