I have been trying to create a friendly server for some players from my school. Nothing fancy, just us and some bots. Not a dedicated server, I want to be able to join.

The problem is, whenever I create a server from cs:source, it creates a LAN game. I cant find a setting to change from a lan game to an internet game. Could it be anything to do with my firewall? Any help would be appreciated.

It's something like sv_lan 0
That should sort it out. If not, then you can ask someone more experienced :)

yes that would do it. Also, you will need to open up port 27015 from your router

I tried entering sv_lan 0 from the console, but it didnt seem to do anything. Do I enter it before or after ive created the server?

Maybe it is on the internet after all? How do you search for a server by name? I know it appears under 'lan' in the find servers menu. The reason I assumed it was only on lan is because when I click 'view server info' it is using a local ip address (192.168.0.1) instead of my internet IP address. Also, my friends are unable to find it.

Thanks for the help anyway. :)

most likely it is due to closed ports. if you can get into your router you can open up the ports

I dont have a rounter, just a p2p network with two computers. I chacked my firewall (ZoneAlarm) and it says that hl2.exe has access to all ports.
