Wow..pretty expensive.

Looks like $280 is the lowest price for the hardware acceleration sound card- the FATAL1TY FPS

The differences are obviously in sound quality, and number of features, which frankly i can only see real enthusiasts noticing (you'd need an amazing speaker setup to appreciate the difference between a one hundred and four hundred dollar sound card :))
And then, the two higher end ones take the load off the cpu with their own onboard acceleration.

Damn i didn't even know there were 2 above the platinum :(. I just picked up the xtrememusic, cause we got em in at best buy last week. Oh well as long as it's at least equal to my audigy2, I'm all set :D

Wow, they seem really cool, but expensive. I like the Crystal-whatever feature that enhances every sound to 96hz and can detect missing sound and then fill it in.. that seems incredible.. and the reviewers said you can actually notice the difference.. So thats cool.

The other cool thing was how it said they can break up different sounds to come out different speaker channels.. for a kind of virtual surround. This feature would work great with mp3s and other types of sound files that aren't broken into different channels.
