I've had it with my wireless, so I'm looking to the make my own networking cable.

So, do I need a specific wire crimper for networking cable or will any wire stripper/crimper work?

We have our own crimper. When you get one, you should get one that has both standard telephone jack slot as well as ethernet slot.

Really other than that, I don't think you need anything special. Just make sure it's one that works well.

We basically went down to home depot, bought some cat 6 cable, a large amount since we were wiring the house through the walls, bought some ethernet outlet jacks, and bought some baggies that had the ethernet cable head pieces on them. We already had the crimper.

So basically you really just need to make sure it's RJ-45. I only say to get one with telephone size too, just so it's more of a multi tool and you won't need to buy another one.

Long time no see by the way. :D

What the hell, how long are you having the wire?

I'll let you practice crimping on MY cat5.
