Hi all. I just wanted to post this trailer for my UT2004 mod here for critique before actually releasing it to the UT2004 people. I just finished my HL2DM map (see sig) and am just about done with this UT2004 mod, so I had to make a trailer.

Can you just let me know if there are any parts you don't like, as well as the time-location in the video?
Example: "I think the clip at 0:35 gets cut off too fast."

Thanks a lot. Here's the link:

Particular things to check:
- Do you like the beginning text?
- Do you think the ending is too sudden (the way you die at the end)?
- Is the first barrage of weapon footage too fast-paced?
- Is the music too loud/soft?
(see if any of these things jumped out at you)

Guns are cool. I like the grenade launcher design.

Weapon design is cool, and the trailer is nicely done, but it doesn't seem all that different from the normal UT2K4...

You mean the rocket launcher :) ... Thanks. My brother doesn't like the shape.
Alternate fire shoots out proximity mines, which stick to surfaces, players, and vehicles... so, yeah, almost like a grenade launcher.

You can't tell from the action-only trailer, but the actual gameplay has been vastly changed. The weapon behavior is indeed similar, as far as what they technically do, but the pace of the game is slowed down by about 50% (it plays a lot more like Halo now), and it has a load of new gameplay features that aren't all shown in the trailer (new gore, blood, camera behaviors, weapon sway, item-shopping, RPG-style inventory belt, flashlight, dynamic weapon accuracy, walk/sprint, crouch-jumping, hit-indication, natural death-camera, and grenade throwing). None of these things are native to UT, as well as the overall feel of the new sound and hit effects, which really change the way you think of the game. It's like changing out of your slacks, and into a sport coat - the presentation is just entirely different, which was the main goal. There's nothing experimental about the mod; it basically shoots for a more solid presentation, with a few new elements.

The original reason for starting the mod was because I thought the UT2004 fighting felt very weak and fluffy compared to some other games, so I wanted to beef it up a bit... but somehow I started making new weapons, and it turned into this.

Here's a simple sound comparison of 4 weapons from UT2004 and their Gunreal counterparts, with lossless audio. Unfortunately the trailer sounds nothing like ingame - a ton of sound quality was lost.
