Has anyone noticed that Father Grigori has a cross carved into his right hand? Kind of creepy. He could've carved it in himself, or perhaps it's some kind of stigmata.

Here's a pic: http://img25.exs.cx/img25/1982/grigorihand0hp.jpg

PS, wasn't actually sure where to post this. Should it be in the Rumours and Speculations thread?

coool never noticed that... a true servant of GOD!!!

that's sweet. My friend scarred a heart into his elbow, but didn't permanentify it. And... back to topic, that's very in character. I wish you would get a chance to see that in-game.

Well the thing is subtle details do add to it, it's just that you don't really pick up on them sometimes...

Subtle details make all the difference sometime.

Awesome find :)

There's a lot of that subtle sort of character detail, like Alyx's necklace that apparently has some emotional signifigance, or Eli's Harvard shirt. Or how all the resistance wear stolen combine equipment. And Gregori's clothes are covered with zombie bloodstains. Etc, etc.
All the details add a lot of character to the characters.

I noticed that Mossman has a bracelet which says "progress".

Kind of a foreshadowing of her collaboration with the combine and Breen.

lol... never noticed that either. :smoking:

Yeah, pretty creepy, know what's scarier? The guy wears red sneakers!

In the future, hi-tops have become fashionable again. Plus, the guy's running from zombies all the time; sneakers are invaluable to him.

Very nice find, that cross. You just know Valve left that in there for someone hardcore to find, going through and looking at the models in detail in HLMV.

If anything can be said about Father Grigori, it's that he's passionate about his job.

very cool. things like that are what put valve one step ahead of the competition.

i wonder why they made it so subtle
It's like all the amazing detail Peter Jackson and Co. put into LOTR like the intricate pattern on the INSIDE of King Theoden's armour - the camera never even got to see it!

If you want detail the combine advisor has a full modle with attack animations even though you only see it's head.

the combine soldiers (the ones with glowy blue eyes I think) have warning labels on the undersides of their masks. Its really hard to read since a lot of the words are stretched. but its something to the effect that taking off your mask can be very dangerous or something.

Father Grigori 4 lyfe

i never noticed that tbh but makews me like him more :D

It was on another forum. Something like
"Warning inproper use of this mask may lead to..."
Imagine being surronded by Combine and they all started dieing cause they didn't put on thier masks properly

I think Zombies have some kind of carving on thier chest or something. I don't have a screen though.

yeah... its too bad that the combine tech made them incompatible to breathe oxygen.

Father Grigori was always an awesome character, the cross just adds to it. :D Guess we'll all start inspecting other characters now for hidden markings from Valve.

The mask reads something along the lines of:
WARNING
Use of this component may
lead to the unlikely death
of the user of the combat breather

Probably just there to scare citizens away.

Then wouldn't they die? No oxygen = massive amount of cells dieing = death. Remember, the Overwatch is still part human.

Wouldn't it be more like 'untimely' death? 'Unlikely' death sounds rather strange.

Yeah, most probably. I just copied the text from another thread on a different forum. Untimely death sounds correct. You're probably right.

Well, that's the reason they are wearing those gasmask... their gasmask is their life... dunno teh reason why CP's wear gasmasks also... eventhough they are purely human. :smoking:

Nobody ever said that cp's were purely human, right???

I thought they were-just like the combine soldiers and the combine elite- somewhat changed with combine technology.

By the looks of it, CPs are simply humans that have been brainwashed into joining the Combine. They probably have their memory erased as well, so that they can start a completely new life as a unit for the Combine. The most common theory that goes around about the gasmask, is that they wear it simply because it's a major part of the Combine uniform (they want to look more like the Combine Soldiers). The gasmask also covers their face, so that other citizens can't recognize who that "traitor to mankind" used to be. The gasmask also makes them look mysterious and malevolent. It's probably designed to scare downtrodden citizens. :p

As for the Elites, I think they're just "the next step" of the Combine Soldier. They're probably less human and more on the Combine-bio-mechanical side now. I think a Combine Soldier that does extremely well in his course is "upgraded" to an Elite (as in, nobody becomes an Elite straight away, they have to work their way up the ranks).

ummm... put that in the spoilers section lol

The combine can't have their memory erasec, Barney is combine :p

Citizen join the combine because citizen life sucks, listen to the citizens they say it in the first level.

If the CPs didnt have their memory erased, then everyone would join, and everyone would live a better life. There'd be too many undercover operations (i.e. Barney!). The only thing I can think of that would prevent undercover missions is a memory erasing or a tremendous amount of brainwashing. I don't know how Barney became a metrocop. Perhaps be bashed a few up and stole their uniforms? :p
