Crowbar is Missing

Somewhere in Route Canal 2 I noticed that my crowbar is missing. It had been there, but it disappeared. Weapons 1, 2, and 3 light up, but only a pistol is there - #2. The other numbers don't have a weapon icon.

Any idea of how the crowbar gets lost, or how to get it back?

Not sure what you mean. I did create an account to install HL 2.

I bought a copy of HL 2 and installed it after registering it with Steam online. I'm not sure why all the questions implying that I am using an unlicensed copy of the software. Is that the usual response when a question is posted here?

Yes, I was asking if you were playing with a legal version of the game which you purchased.

If you are, I'm not of much help here other than to say try validating your game files. You do so through the games tab in Steam.

I'm sure someone else will come along and offer some more suggestions.

Edit: Yeah, when it comes to strange errors like this, people pirating the game is usually the cause, from what I've seen. Do not take it personally. It's just something that needs to be clarified before we go helping out someone who would pirate from Valve.

if that doesn't work - backup your save files, uninstall HL2 in steam or in windows uninstaller, then reinstall it and put the save files back. Should work, but it may be a dodgy save file aswell, so go back a few saves or get some off the net if you need to.

Did you bind the number to something else? Go into your keyboard settings in the options menu, and check your keyboard controls. It should have 'primary weapon', or weapon slot 1 with the No. 1 binded next to it. If it isn't there, change it and press OK.

Steam does that sometimes
Like a while back for some reason my Fonts folder went missing so i coul dnot see text on anything steam - games and all

Thanks! I hit the "q" key for last weapon used and it was there - but it didn't show up in the numbered weapons area at the top of the screen. Strange! I then binded it to the #1 key.
