Yes, that's right!

For those who remember my China project in the summer, my second project, there's been another project since then, wich was my mock, and now this is the real exam.

To quote from the exam paper:

You have a four week prepatory period to research, investigate and develop your ideas. Your work during this period could be in sketchbooks, journals, design sheets, studies or any other appropriate form of preparation.

This is the first week of that four week period.

We had a choice of 7 different projects, and this it the one that I chose:

Still life - Many artists have used food as a theme for still life: Juan Sanchez Cotan focused on everyday unprepared foods framed in a window or cupboard; Dutch painters of the 17th century depicted ripe, seasonal food on tables; Rene Magritte altered the scale of food in rooms creating surrealist views; Claes Oldewnburg created plaster and fabric sculptures of food and Andy Warhol made prints and paintings of cans and food packaging.

Refer to some ways that artists have depicted food and produce work based on your own observations.

So far I have got 3 pictures done,

After I have drawn a few more of these basic ones i can start having the freaky surreal ones :P

So I'll be drawing, for example, the inside of an orange, the outside of an apple, melting fruits on the ground and having hands shooting through the centre of them e.t.c :D

It should be good!

I'll update you all throughout the course of the project :)

What are the first two? :)

I like the third one though :)

woah thats just weird.. the last one, the hand holding what looks like it might be partially a can of something. When I did my GCSE exam I did a similar green hand holding a can of pepsi. Weird hehe. I should try dig it up someday and scan it in, though it probably looks crap by now :)

Nice pic though, not so sure bout the other two, WIP's?

The first one is a sweet wrapper, and the second one is an orange (yes, it was mis-shapen like that :P)

The teachers in my school seem to like you progressing on to better work throught the course of a sketchbook for some reason :)

cool, very nice work. The last one is scary :P

that reminds me, I have to start work on my GCSE art exam

I have to persuade the teacher to let me use a different topic.. currently we're allowed to choose from the first 2 (both are a load of crap), I have to prove to her I can get a better grade on one of the others..

nice work man! i remember my GCSE stuff, i got an A for the actual exam i did, but because I'm a lazy ass i got a D for my coursework and prep work (i did less than a book for the whole 2 years :() i got a C in total. BAH I CRY EVERY NIGHT ABOUT IT!!

/me jokes. about the crying bit.

this reminds me i have an AS level exam paper coming into my hands on te first of marcha nd i have to get t final studies done by then and i havent even started yet oh noes!!!

EDIT: hehe i did the exact same thing i did 2 good final studies whihc were A's a good bit of art historyies and the rest was total crap! and i got a C :P

Very nice, I love the last peice with the scary hand, nice use of shading. I have to start my art exam after half term... And i have 4 days to finish my coursework... -_-

Very nice Crush, I really like 3rd one, what paints are they? :)

My bloody exam topic is "Overhead and Underneath". What the hell is that supposed to mean? :p I'm going to do "airborne", which just means flying things, planes, birds etc. :)

I hate my school, we didn't even get to choose the topic :O We just got the paper like the mock exam.

I'll probably post some of my own work soon (when I do some) :D

EDIT: In FACT, I'll start my OWN thread with my OWN followers muhahahaha :D Probably won't get updated too often though :P I may post a picture tonight if I get it done :)

Hehe, my 4 projects were due in last Friday. Didn't hand in a single piece of work, not even the ones I've done. :( She said I can do it over half term and I've still done bugger all. The annoying thing is, my teachers are making a big fuss about mounting all the work up and labelling it for examiners, and when I ask when the examiners are coming - "July".

Overhead and Underneath ... Sounds like a good use of lighting could be useful here, like random objects lit from overhead look completely different if they are lit from underneath ... you could do the same object drawn from the same point of view, but lit from different angles (1 up 1 down).

Just a thought.

Looking good Crush :D

I really like the new piece with the hand, looks great as it is tbh :)

The apple one, totally unoriginal, done every year by about half the year

But the rest are really good. I love the hand ones too

1st one:
Very stylish, I like the use of straight line shading.

2nd one:
Good use of shading... but what is it? Looks like a deformed apple!

3rd one:
Light and shading on the fruits is very good, The backround needs more depth though

4th one:
Wonderful use of cross-shading, and the tree has much more texture. Very good.

5th one:
Needs a lot more detail, and apart from a few minor proportional errors, it will look excellent when finished.

6th one:
Amazing contrast between the colours. I'm a big fan of bold, outstanding art so I like this.

7th one:
Again, very good light and shade.

8th one:
Yay tubes.

I see you like oranges and melons :>

edit: sorry no melons there :smoking:

My final exam was so crappy...
Apparently my coursework was very good. They liked the concept and thought I had skill but I just didn't do enough.

Your stuff is looking interesting Crush, but I don't really want to comment until I see what you do for the final outcome.
