Crysis beta is out!

Same deal as the Quake Wars beta it seems.

First two batches will probably be subscriber only, and the last 2 batches will be for everyone.

Eh. I'm not on the edge of my seat for this game, and I feel playing the beta would make me want the game less. Since playing a beta isn't supposed to be just a way to play it early, it's supposed to be there so you can make it better with feedback. Most people will probably jump on this so they can say, "I played the beta!". All in all, I'll wait for the polished version so I can hopefully be blown away.

Think it's the multiplayer because the demo is out on the 25th. You have to have the founders membership too. They say you can't say anything neither because you will break the NDA. :upstare: Right. ;) *Oh it's on the torrent network too.

See this is something to test my rig on.
Shame I'm never going to get a Fileplanet account. I'm a student, can't afford it :p. If anyone has a key they wanna give me because their computer can't handle the game or they just don't want to be in the beta, I'll be happy to take the key from them (my rig will run it definately).

Well Im a subscriber but Im not gonna go all the way and sign up for founders club as well just for this beta. Usually you only need to be a subscriber to get in on the good beta's! Man they are really milking this one!

beta? shouldn't they be releasing the demo instead, since the game is coming out in just two months?

Will this run on my 9800 pro?

It ran Half Life 2 (Excel Version) so well ;(

Alpha -> Beta -> Gold

Are we playing gold? Nope. Thus, we're at beta. :) A beta is feature complete and just needs bug-fixing.

Anyone be willing to part with their FP Crysis key? :) I would love to check this out.

Yah I was thinking the same thing, then again something just seems outta place about this whole deal! FP always announces major betas like this in advance so that it can get people to sign up. I check FP daily and have yet to see any promo or advert about this Crysis Beta. Maybe its because they wanna keep it for founders only, meh o well! Hopefully us paying subscribers will get at least one batch offer as well or at least the demo early or something! O and it doesn't say when the next batch is coming out just a bunch of ???

What?! I thought you'd have a founders club account for definite!

I'm being stubborn and not letting any kindof hype get to me, got other things to do, then come November I will upgrade with all my might.

That's completely bull in this day and age.

Companies will release beta's that are practically un-changeable releases as marketing tools. Even a gold version has "bug-fixes". This isn't a beta, it's marketing a gold release.

Just player it, the game is UNREAL. Graphics are so good. As long as you have a really good system you should be all set.

Is it just comprised of basic gametypes like DM, TDM, FFA, LMS, etc or does it actually have the other one that sounds relatively new?

Hahaha, I believe this is a reference to one of the old shaky cam HL2 hype videos. Some ass in the background kept making comments, something like:

"Will this run on my 486" *resounding chuckles*

/Valve dude begins playthrough

"But it ran Spreadsheet so well" *more chuckling*

Good times, the old Half-Life 2 hype days, Only an oldschool member would remember! I miss that old video sending shivers down my spine, never before had I seen such immersion in an FPS.. but now I feel spoiled - and the industry seems so dry.

Hold me. Nothing has captivated me as strongly as the hype leading to Half-Life 2 (as far as gaming is concerned), I just hope something comes along that reinvigorates this community in that respect.

So far all i have seen is capture an area type gameplay, and its possible to use a nuke, havent figured it out yet

I'm sure Crysis has been "beta" for months, just in various forms. By the time we see the beta, it's fairly concrete.

Any changes you are likely to see, will be subtle at best, especially this late in the game... There may be small (very small) tweaking of gameplay and they will fix any exploits that pop up. They will also attempt to tune any of the backend stuff (networking and preparing their servers and such).

So to the naked eye, they look unchanged between beta and gold, but under the hood, they are improved...

Think about it though. When you're working on a project for 4 years, and then when you're within two months of release, would you want to risk ruining the game or delaying it by changing something major? Nope.

dekstar: Nope. I don't pay for junk like that ;) I can wait to play games. Especially since I already played Crysis back in March and in all honesty think it's too overhyped.

Agreed!

Who Has A Key They Cant Use Or Dont Want!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ****ing Work!

I've heard XP users only get to play the beta in low graphic setting. Is this gonna be the samething for the retail version also? I've seen people complaining because of this. Only Vista users get to play the game in full graphical power, hence witnessing the true game graphic.

If it's true, then I might consider getting Vista just for this game...

No, XP users are only forced to play in DX9 mode. By no means are they forced to play it on "low." However, Vista can run DX10 mode, and yes, see 100% eye candy.

I've heard you won't see that many difference with your naked eyes when you play maxed setting on both dx9 and 10.

Is it possible to torrent it but not being able to play online? Cuz i just wanna test how the game runs on my computer, can i do that without a key?

Just way until they give out keys to the public or you know the single player demo which comes out sometime later this month.

I believe the demo is out later this month, 27th sounds right.

Roughly the time I get my new PC. :D

My friends played it. He said it sucked. Pretty much the same as Far Cry MP, but with the suits powers. Maps are huge and hardly ever see anyone he says.

Also no physics, like cutting down trees or breaking huts.. but thats understandable in MP.

I'll wait for the SP demo, was never interested in the MP anyway.
