Crysis New Preview

I dont understand why you are already judging the gameplay by looking at some still-life jpgs. Just because a game has good graphics doesnt mean the gameplay is bad...seems like this is the new "thing", as soon as a game has good graphics then "ooh noohh, the gameplay sucks, the game should burn in hell".

Give it a chance. Dont judge people from what they are wearing, or their skin color=their appearance...judge them for who they really are, get to know them= play the game.

Wow, those are great screenies....Beautiful.

Hopefully the gameplay is just as good.

Looks great. Now I just need £1000 to spend on upgrades to play the damn thing!

1st pic looks like concept art, and the rest... well I'll believe it when I'm playing it.

Well there are a few demo videos from E3 and stuff showing some gameplay aspects, and also whole articles about the game. Still I don't really care until it's been released and I can see some reviews about it.

M1CH43L, how's motion blur new? That's been in several 360 games for example, Fight Night Round 3, Perfect Dark Zero, Project Gotham Racing 3.. So please explain to me how this innovative and new..:p

yeah well you need a high end system such as dual cor CPU + two DX10 cards. and 4GB of memory for Vista

Crysis has the potential to become the best thing since sliced bread and sugar cubes. But then again, so did Far Cry, which sucked huge sweaty hairy balls.

Crysis can use all that technology in a good way if it were more of a survival shooter, like STALKER. But in the end, it will probably be a standard run and gun shooter with an added 'you can shoot trees LOL' element that will keep you occupied for 10 minutes. Far Cry didn't use the potential of a non-linear environment at all, I doubt Crysis will.

And shit like "you can get like super powers and then become very strong and hit enemies to death LOL" is what makes me so negative about this. What the hell does that add to the game? It looks like shit and is never as effective as just ****ing shooting someone.

The thing that annoys me so far about Crysis is that apparently the length of the game is only 10 hours long :S

really, source ? :hmph:

Yea , having the abillity to be super strong is lame becuae it seems there's no "management" aspect to the skills and it turns just as a way to easy the game for the players.

Knocking down a house with your fists is just stupid.

err the fact that you can just do it if you want to, lol..

and don't forget that was a demo of the game at E3, changes are bound to occur.

Plus your trivialising everything. The ability to shoot down entire forests can be used tactically, shoot a tree down into a road, clear an area of canopy to let more light in so you can see better if the situation calls for it, hiding being smaller trees are no longer an option you have to think about your best cover rather than just anything, also they are a hazard if the AI guns them down.

It changes a whole bunch of thought processes depending on weither your trying to play it stealth or go all out Arnie. It's a bit more than 'shoot trees lol' it actually has the potential to make the gameplay that bit more interesting, you know..? as compared to a static forest it would'nt be half the interactive fun either.

Why give crytek almost next to no optimisim with what they have done, this isnt farcry, that was there first try. Successful developers tend to live and learn and it looks promising.. give it chance don't brush it off as a farcry clone, jeesh.

Agreed. Farcry wasn't perfect, but parts were excellent. I can only see Crytek improving things with Crysis.

It looks superb, seems to be offering something a little different, my only reservation is the cost to get this running at a decent frame rate.

I remain totally underwhelmed. I mean, the graphics are sure as hell lovely, and I'm sure I'll sit and watch the waves for a few hours but I think Crytek need to realise their graphics aren't going to conjure the gameplay for them. The whole things just looks meh.

Sure, that looks nice, but that is about it. A couple of floating enemies and a ton of frozen rocks. Bland. Boring. The fact that they are discussing the story in such detail is plain silly. Look, Crytek, I don't care about act 1, 2 or 83, I'll find out when I play.

Meh. You all probably saw this coming, but as they churn out new previews my interest just lowers and lowers. Crytek don't really impress me.

Doom 3...playable?

welll....I guess its something to look forward too.......

That is the best I've seen Far Cry described as.

I really hope we'll see this scene in the game, and I belive we will since we've already seen the frozen wave from those concepts .D

You bring up this argument alot Clarks, when really, it has no bearing on absolutely anything.

I really liked farcry up until the mutants. Aliens seem like it would be much more enjoyable. My friend loved farcry. After he beat it, he repeatedly put god mode on and ran through the game shooting everyone. lol

The game looks promising. I'll pick it up just like I did farcry. I don't expect to compare it to HL2 just yet. I'll play it first.

It's not an argument, it's a factor of having making you more aware that your wearing high tech nano suit, continuity for realisim If you can punch stuff in real life, why not in a game. Not being able to punch stuff if you want to is literally taking the choice out, and I dont really care, I want to punch stuff and the motivation for including it is surely as simple as that :p

It doesnt seem relevant to some probably, but not everything has to be, its just a feature you can use if you fancy, it's not exactley a gimmick either as they are trying to put emphasis on your suits abilities.

Exactly. Take the Fort level in Far Cry that they used for the demo. It was amazing; almost everybody loved it. And almost everbody hated the Doom reject mutants. Which one do you think they are going to use more of in Crysis?

The mutants ruined the game - it was so awesome up to that point & then it was wasting an entire clip on the same boring-ass mutants.

I didn't mind they monkey mutants. The could be put down with a shotgun blast. And the shotgun was automatic for mass mutant monkey mutliation and massacres.

Far Cry had great gameplay? Did you guys even play the same game I did?

Rocket launcher snipers at 800 meters? Snipers in bushes in obscure locations? Full body armor guys with faceplates which stop assault rifles cold with a shield firing a fully automatic gun with perfect accuracy? Parts of the game in which you literally can not beat on the first try unless you are uncannily lucky? Giant mutants that take 100+ bullets to kill with rocket launchers? Completely unbeatable last area without a cheap exploit? Do you guys remember that shit?

I don't mind hard games, I cut my teeth on Contras, Castlevania and just about every other hard game out there. I play everything on hard. I play competitive CS (as in CPL/CAL-P/I), so I definately don't suck. However, Far Cry was just completely unfair. It got to the point where I felt the game was working as hard as possible to beat me instead of entertain me. FFS, I didn't even die in Far Cry until they pulled the rocket launcher snipers and face-plate mercs that didn't die when you shot them in the head (level 7 or 8 or something like that). And this was on the second hardest difficulty, when the enemies don't have 100% perfect accuracy with 100% perfect eyesight at 500 meters. Don't even get me started on the hardest difficulty.

No, no, no. There is a pistol in Halo, but I don't have to shoot it if I don't want to. You can punch in Doom 3, and knock cans over, but I don't have to. Isn't that the same factor? "If you can punch stuff in real-life, why not a game?" Maybe because it is just that, a game? I don't see how having a big ass nano suit and being able to punch things is a strive for realism. It isn't.

I want to shoot that pistol, I don't have to, but I will.

I agree. Far Cry was a pretty dull, average game. Though I did complete the final level without an exploit. Me > Far Cry.

They look touched up, and less realistic than older screenshots iirc
