I just hope that "current hardware" isn't 7900gtx SLi, or x1900xtx Crossfire..

I'm a bit disappointed in my 7800gtx after the whole Oblivion thing.

well, whats you settings, I have two BFG OC 7800GTX SLI

and they run this game with no lag at all,

make sure you read all the tweaking settings at tweakguide and at their official forums.

Yeah, you might find the cheesy lines great, but maybe others don't? I cannot stand it, and don't like it. It ruins the immersion of Far Cry. Games might not be a serious business for you, but I don't want 'just killing'. Thats not a win for me. Story was cheesy and stupid. Who cares? I care. I like a good story.

It's not taking things too seriously, its my opinion. Far Cry, to me, was not a great game all round. I hope that got through because believe it or not, people look for different things in a game.
Obviously a no win argument when people can fall back on opinions. Absolutely you can choose to not like Far Cry, that's the great thing about human choice. Perhaps you will be more pleased with Crysis as the developers seem to indicate the removal of the cheesiness and a more well rounded story.

I will abandon Valve completely if Crytech nail the gameplay

shame on you!
thats like cheating on your wife :p
hmm...okay so perhaps gamers won't need Vista to play the game but a high end computer? more than likely.

But it's not falling back, it was the very basis. Yes, I'm certainly hoping Crysis proves to be far more awesome than Far Cry ever was.

I think the best bits of Far Cry were superb, it's just a shame that some were painfully average. If Crysis can keep all the good bits and ditch the crap (no more rocket weilding Doom rejects please) it could be the best fps in years :)

Zomg! missed this, pant wetting news!

In a PCG interview they said they were focusing on MP more this time round, I can't wait tbh, running through the undergrowth knocking the jungle about, shooting trees down.. all sorts of various hardcore gardening to confuse your foes!

I'm especially excited about how interactive the jungle is. It's just so awesome how everything moves and reacts.

you might not need vista, but for all those who want all the fancy new graphics, you need vista [dx10].

what's that cliche, a two sided sword or something ?

So the video we saw was with dx9 and no vista??? If so then WOW!! i'll still get vista and dx 10 card just to be on the safe side. Thats when i'll be upgrading to a new pc .

COOP is the future of multiplayer games :D

One may think so, but it's not true. Ever heard of Alien Swarm? One of the best UT2k4 mods available, but there's hardly more than 2 servers up, with less than 4 people playing at any one time. You know why? It's a co-op game. Co-Op games just don't work next to the mass-populated deathmatch games. Unless society changes so that kids who buy games are more mature and like working with other people (unlikely, puberty is the time to ****, and with that, the alpha male mentality is at an all time high), Co-Op games will never exist on the mass-scale we see with other games. That's not to say they still aren't fun to play with friends (hell, Doom 3 co-op is probably the awesomest idea, ever, too bad there are too many complications with illegal versions)

As it stands today, Far Cry is the only game I have that I've never completed. and never intend to. The load balancing is screwed even on Easy there are many parts which are near impossible to get through. The level design is horrible. Still, it was decent until the trigens showed up. The trigens are, simply put, NO FUN TO FIGHT AT ALL.

I agree. The game was just waay too hard in some parts (then again, I never bothered to lower the difficulty) and the part RIGHT at the end was the most impossible thing I have ever had to do. And for what? A 30 second ending that was no where near as good as it should have been given the impossible task.

I liked the game, but if you get to the part I'm talking about, save yourself the touble and skip it to the ending using a cheat or something.

The end mission, while supremely difficult was also marred by the fact that it designed purely to be stupid. No though, no coolio level design. Nada. Just shoot!

I admit I cheated at the last level :(

I mean: that pit was just swarming with the most powerful units in the game, and they were all coming for you. And I'm no Chuck Norris (yet) :(

Well, I survived without cheating or using the chair trick. Nur nicky nur nur!

Upon emerging out of the big blast door I snipered several leap-frog mutant types, then hid behind the little wall and waited, with machinegun in hand, for the rocket launcher toting mutants to appear at the top of the steps. Flipped out, fired, made him flinch, then killed him. Rinse repeat. Took *alot* of attempts mind ye.

Last level was a killer, I think i beat it by staying next to the door that opens. No cheating for me in any game!

I used the chair trick too. This was on the hardest setting, though, and that was the only part of the game that offered me any real difficulty.

Believe it or not, I didn't kill any of the stupid things. I ran just through everything. I figured that after 100s of failed attemps at trying to kill them I was doing something wrong. :p

And whats that "chair" trick you are talking about?

If I remember correctly, in the room that's filled with ammo and weapons there's a few chairs you can move around. You can push one all the way to the big blast doors that lock shut behind you when you fight the Trigen. By sticking the chair between the doors you can stop them shutting, and fight from inside - which is alot easier.

FarCry wasn't so hard. That part was a bit of trouble but no Halo on max diff. Mind you it depends if you have enough sniper rounds to take out all the silly grashoppers with ubervision trigens.

That...never worked for me :(

I've never beaten Far Cry without cheats. Just doesnt hold my interest long enough at all.

finally a dev that doesn't spit out a game for 4 consoles at once.

I disagree about coop being dead. The reason you dont find many online coop game servers is that people that like coop (like me) like the tactics, and to get true real time tactics you need real time communication. Even if you get amazing connections with coms online they always lag about 1/4 of a second and its just irretating. Not to mention the annoyance of having to press a button when you want to speek.

Alot better sitting side by side and just yelling at each other :)

"F**K! F**K! GRENADE! AHHH!" :)

Far Cry's online was just pish, it was far to deathmatchy for me.

Can't give my impresions about multiplayer for this obviously but I hope it's improved. Graphics do look amazing. I showed just the clip of where it says "Motion Blur" and a guy running through the trees to my mate.... he thought it was real for two seconds :)

FarCry was great and this is extremely good news. Dedicating all effort towards PC-development is bound to reap rewards (in gameplay, not revenue :() and certainly helps put Crysis on my most wanted-list.
