I can't really afford both games at the moment and I'm having a really hard time deciding which one I should get so I thought I'd put it up to public vote. Vote based solely upon your own personal choice, like I say, I'm totally 50/50 on this one.

COD4 is awesome. Its top quality all the way through..some of the best levels ive played in any game, ever.

BUT, Crysis is just...i want to say better but is that pushing it? Simply put, Crysis is the next generation of first person shooters. Its awesome. COD4 is just..COD3 and 2 but in modern times. It doesnt do anything 'new'.

Also another but, will your pc handle it is the next question. You wont be dissapointed by either no matter which one you choose, but if your pc can handle Crysis without loosing too much of the eyecandy, get it over COD4.

I'm getting Crysis soon. So I chose that.

Only played the Crysis Demo, but I own COD4. Unless you have a GREAT machine id go with COD4

Yeah, if you can get high to very-high settings going on your machine, then I would say Crysis. Otherwise, CoD4--its brilliant.

You can get Crysis in the bargain bin for about $20, it's in a box labeled "Far Cry"

CoD4 is way better

Man, I couldn't be assed to pass the first level :( I got bored of the SP fast.

Ya know what pisses me off about crysis....the fan boys continue to defend its bogus production with "they are taking advantage of hardware that hasn't been released yet!"

F*%& your fist with that kind of logic. Im not paying almost 60 dollars for the reassurance that the game will run as it is supposed to 2 years from now. The fact that a person with very good specs can only get around 40FPS max is ****ing ridiculous. Look at Valve, their games look brilliant and can be run by an inbred lobotomy patient with an etch-a-sketch....with the bloom effect.

Anyone can make a game with such eye candy as crysis, the challenge is making it playable to the demographic, which unfortunately for Crytek, inst a bunch of rich kids with daddies credit cards and a newegg account.

I'll stop there because after all that, im still getting the game.

I enjoyed crysis sp a lot more then CoD4 sp, although I agree that the sniper mission is one of the best mission I have ever played.
Crysis does look a lot uglier then CoD 4 on my rig.
(q6600,2gb,7900gs at 1680x1050).
CoD4 has better multiplayer imo, but Crysis has the sandbox editor. So I voted crysis.

agreed

for me both are equally the same. i voted for Crysis...reasons unknown.

COD4, singleplayer is pretty badass and multiplayer is really awesome and will keep you coming back for quite a while.

Both are above average shooters at best, but if you buy Crysis, at least you'll have the best looking game evar + hours upon hours of tropical sandbox fun (COD4 MP doesn't look that exciting, tbh).

COD4's multiplayer is decent because it gives you the ability to improve rank and weapons. Without that, its ok at best.

For the MP CoD4 beats pretty much all.
For SP I would go with Crysis if I had to choose. Which I don't... :p

Pretty freaking neck and neck so far. That's awesome.

You can get CoD4 in the bargain bin for about $10, its called Call of Duty 2. Only difference is there's new weapons and a new setting.
Sort of the same thing with Crysis I suppose.

Your argument is nullified.

On a side note, there are MAJOR performance issues with CoD4 and some systems. For example, my rig runs Crysis on high at 1600x1200 with twice as many FPS as it runs CoD4 on low at 640x480.

In all, I think there's much more fun to be had with Crysis, which is why I'm going to go out and buy that tomorrow.

Guys, I'm having trouble deciding something. It's related to the thread.

Should I buy COD4?

I was in the multiplayer beta on Xbox 360 and it was lots of fun. But I don't want to buy it if there aren't many other .netters who play the multiplayer. So who else plays it and thinks I should get it?

It's pretty much the opposite for me (and for most people I'm sure), Crysis barely runs at a playable FPS (30-40) at medium with some low settings at 1280x960, while CoD4 runs at all max, at 1280x960 at 40-50 FPS.

(Win XP, Athlon 3800x2 @ 2.45ghz, Geforce 7900gs @ 600/1600mhz, 2gb ddr400)

Yeah, I'm just saying that it could happen.

I mean, the game is NOT playable for me AT ALL. They have some SERIOUS fixing to do.

Finally got to see COD4 on the 360 the other day. Looked really nice, the setting was cool, but it simply felt like the same old Call of Duty. Endless respawning of enemies until you hit the invisible boudary then they stop. Then a new stream of respawning enemies until you hit the next invisible boundary, rinse and repeat. Protet the tank from the endless stream of respawning enemies until the invisible time counter reaches zero. It had wildly frantic gameplay and is an edge of your seater, but I liked the Crysis demo on low settings better than COD4 on the 360. Not by much though. I have to admit I didn't see the sniper misssion, so maybe my opinion is null and void.

Crysis on the other hand looked pretty ugly on my rig. Frames per second were decent. I really enjoyed playing the demo though. I'm most worried about how short it is and how linear people say the game becomes later on. All of my interest in Crysis dealt with the sandboxy nature the game was supposed to have and did have in the demo.

Not going to vote for either, because I wouldn't spend my own personal money on either of them.

Call of Duty 4, without a doubt.

It has a plot, something I can't really say for Crysis, and while some missions feel like CoD1/2 repackaged, others (Sniper mission, AC-130, a few parts of others), are brand new and outstanding. Crysis SP probably beats out CoD4 for replayable singlerplayer, but IW has some tricks up their sleeves for that too (a truly difficult max difficulty, the 'cheats'). CoD4 single player is only a few hours shorter than Crysis, and from some real reviews I've read of Crysis, its famed non-linearity goes RIGHT out the window part of the way through the game.

Performance-wise, unless you have an 8800, CoD4 will destroy Crysis utterly while looking quite good itself. There are some issues with the 8800's however, which I'm sure will be fixed soon...

Multiplayer I can't say fairly, not having played Crysis's. However, CoD4's MP has outstanding variety. You can change quite a bit of the settings without losing ranked status, and without ranked, many more. CoD4 is also likely to have a good competitive scene, something that might not happen for Crysis given it's shit performance on most hardware. Hardcore mode on a good server with teamwork is outstanding gameplay, far above and beyond previous call of duty games. I miss my lee enfield, but then I pick up a Barrett, or a G36, or an Ak74su, or a p90, and it's all good. Some real weapon variety this time around. None of the guns are wholly useless, at least on hardcore. Well, I don't see a reason to use one of the early sniper rifles over a Dragonuv if not a Barrett, but I've seen a few people (of sufficient rank) doing so regardless.

I'll be honest, not played through crysis yet but cod 4 single player was meh.

IF you only want to play mp, then cod 4 is your answer I think, if you only want single player then crysis. If you want both then flip a coin...maybe crysis.

Yeah, those two missions are indeed shit hot. In fact, I think I'm gonna give them a replay...

I haven't even finished the game yet and I'm already thinking how about how much I'm looking forward to the replay. :D

Thing is, there's no difference between Crysis and Far Cry, at all

There's a big difference between a game of the same series playing like an older game in the series, and a brand new game playing like a great game from 3 years ago, especially when it's getting near perfect reviews regardless of it being nothing but a big tech demo

BOOP

Suit, koreans, aliens, special forces, voice acting, story, weapons, destructable huts, physics much more interactive.

The game does a heck of a lot more over Far Cry

I'm assuming you've played the finished build of Crysis and basing your opinion on that.

You are most likely able to handle CoD4, Crysis will be another story. Regardless I have bought CoD4 and I will be getting crysis

CoD4 is in my opinion better than the previous games, and the action is varied (Assault, Rescue, Assasinations, Pursuit), especially in the later game. Unfortunately it is shorter though.

I must say, the fact I enjoy CoD4 and I hate the rest has to mean something :p
