I haven't even finished the game yet and I'm already thinking how about how much I'm looking forward to the replay. :D

Hehe, I was the same. I upped it to Veteran from Harderned and tried to make my way through it again. :| I wouldn't reccommend it. Hardened was decent in terms of difficulty, but on Veteran you just get pelted with grenades and killed instantly in about three or four shots. Waay too trial and error.

I think the only missions I didn't enjoy were most of the Marine ones where you play as Jackson. They were alright I guess, but a bit too typical Call of Duty for my liking - ie. constant streams of enemies until you reach a certain point, run down the street, rinse and repeat 3 or 4 times and the mission's over.

I enjoyed the Marine missions that involved assaulting a place in a helicopter i.e the first and last mission, but finding the tank was quite dull. Escorting it was quite cool coz you got to see it punch holes in walls.

The sniper mission was really something, though.

Yeah I did actually enjoy the last Marine mission quite a bit now you mention it. But generally, I didn't think the Marine bits were anywhere near as good as the SAS and SAS/Marine joint missions. Nowhere near enough variety in the Marine ones - although to be fair there's only a handful of them.

I've played and finished both games.
If you have the system and want one of the best shooters if not games of tomorrow then get Crysis.
If you want a game that's playable on current system, one that offers longevity and a great singleplayer and multiplayer experience then get COD4.
You can't really go wrong either way.If were you though,i would get cod4 for the mean time until some proper hardware comes out to handle such games as Crysis.

Well, since I can't run Crysis, it's a pretty easy choice.

Anyway, I need something to fill my multiplayer ownage quota, and Halo 3's getting a bit old (for the moment atleast).

Well, I was pleasantly surprised with CoD4's SP, the demo really doesn't do it justice. The sniper mission, while extremely scripted, was unforgettable and the AC-130 (?) part was amazing; the sounds, thermal vision, and voice overs made you feel detached from the incredible violence you were inflicting in an eerie and realistic way. It feels just like those videos from real gunships in Iraq you can see on youtube where the soldiers are slaughtering guys like tiny characters in a video game (except you really are killing tiny characters in a video game). Plus a really great ending. I haven't gotten too far in Crysis yet but it runs really poorly and I was really annoyed by the fact that the average Korean soldier could shrug off what seemed like 5 or 6 bullets to the chest from an assault rifle and upwards of 10 with a silencer added (wtf?!). The bullet sponge enemies make the firefights a lot less satisfying than those in Far Cry. But the destructibility and open environments were awesome, and I can see Crysis' SP having a hell of a lot more replayablity than CoD4's scripted, ultra-linear SP. As for multiplayer, from my limited experience Crysis is sort of lame, but CoD4's MP is pretty fun and has the really addictive persistent level system, which makes it one of the best around. MP wise, CoD4 is the only thing that's been able to draw me away from TF2, even though I'm having really bad network issues with CoD.

Call of Duty 4, judging from the demo.

I didn't like Crysis too much, it ran at a playable FPS... but I just am not a fan of jungle warfare.
Especially with AI that can see through all of the foliage.

The only thing I like about the Crysis demo is the very easy to use editor, still not enough to get me to buy it though.

CoD4 was just incredibly fun while still looking great.
It throws intense firefights at your face every 5 seconds.

Getting it for Christmas.

Multiplayer variety - COD4

Crysis does have some multiplayer, but its free-for-all only as far as ive heard, with one other mode that i cant remember the name of.
