Crysis. Real life comparison

Amazing!!

Who says games will never look as good as real life?

Oh shit. Photorealism is not far away. Grass and shadows still look kinda fake, but I doubt I'll notice in game.

Is it Crytek who are releasing these comparisons?
good question
still, we're so close to photo-realism

Cool... so the game is modelled from real world locations then?

HAhahahahahaHhAHAHHAH!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not buying any of this till I see some hud shots.

Like I said on the Steampowered forums, the top picture has terrible water. The bottom picture has too much bloom/HDR, and the grass and cage models look horrible. Plus, the shadow in the bottom right is detailed way too much.

Minus those flaws, it looks amazing.

yeah, um, i don't care if it has "too much bloom"

after i somehow make my computer magically able to run this, i will get this. I will get this and pray hard to every diefic entity from jesus to spaghetti monster to raptor jesus to buddha and allah and odin and everything else that the voice acting and story do not suck as much as farcry's. Otherwise i will very likely cry over what may have been a great game but became a pretty tech demo.

Fairly impressive but one of the major things that detracts from realism is the shadows, they just don't look realistic imo..
You can see the shadows aren't nearly as blurred as they are in the RL picture, you can also see that the Crysis shadows have like a ton of small squares, this is more noticable in the high-res pictures, the edges are composed of a ton of small squares..

I'm wondering which first game we'll see with accurate to real-life soft shadows, i.e. not just shadows that are soft but actually blur alot depending on the distance cast etc.. So far I've only seen techdemos do this, no game..

Jesus, some of you guys need to try playing the games I played during the 80's.

Then you can tell us about 'dodgy gfx' :p
